Am I alone in thinking that we are embarking on a war on women in this country? Between the ongoing attempts to severely gut access to women's health services, the unending assault on women's reproductive rights, and now some schmuck saying that a group whose purpose it is to create strong, confident women is a threat to society, I'm getting really concerned.

I'm on your couch...curled up into a ball and rocking back and forth.

Same here. This is a really depressing couch.

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • I wonder if any conservatives on this board feel like there's a war on women underway. I had a conversation with a male libertarian the other day and he argued that conservative women were in agreement with these views because they believed abortion was murder, and none of this is women's rights stuff. He completely dismissed the idea that there was nefarious patriarchal smackdown afoot.

    Republican ladies? Thoughts?

Well, a lady at the nail salon, unsolicited just started going off on abortion to me. We were talking about kooks that come into retail establishments and tell their life stories, to her working in the pharmacy that speciailizes in fertility meds & the girls spilling their guts in there, asking her to put the meds in paper bags so no one would know what they were....I said well some people don't like to talk about it or it's an issue with family or friends because it's against their church's beliefs. She was like- "however you have to get a baby you get a baby....but that abortion- I don't believe in that! It's a baby from the moment of conception!" Then it went into a whole thing about "us" having to pay for people to work the system, that "people should just use birth control, and we wouldn't need abortions. Just outlaw it and it make people use contraception. OOOHhhh it doesn't feel good. Too bad".

I don't think she thinks there is a war on women. But she does want to wage a war against abortion. I just wanted to dry my nails.
