  Also, for the record, I have not been baptised. My parents grew up with anabaptist or anti-baptism churches, so I wasn't baptised at birth. I am not allowed to be a godparent and H has sinned in the eyes of the Catholic church as a result. Our children can't be baptised (even if I wanted them to, which I don't - I dont' see the need, God surly isn't that controlling?).

  I'm not sure where you heard your kids couldn't be baptized, but it's not true. Kids with one Carholic parent get baptized all of the time--actually, when a Catholic marries a non-Catholic to get the marriage recognized by the church the Catholic party has to sign a paper promising to bring their children up in the Church, which includes baptism. Having your marriage recognized by the Church isn't a requirement for having a child baptized either. H's parents were never married, his father was Jewish, and he was baptized as an infant with no issue.

  I should have said, they can't get baptised Catholic - according to PIL's priest. I konw they could get baptised Church of England or prob most others, which I offered to DH is he wanted them baptised, but he wasn't bothered. 

  Hmm. Maybe they assumed I wouldnt' raise them Catholic? I'm nto sure! That's just what we were told when we got our blessing (RC, so H could get a sacrement)...

  I was christened C of E, DH catholic, E has been baptized into the catholic church with no questions asked. 

  A friend of mine had her son Christened Catholic, but only she was Catholic, her partner was something else (they are not married even though they have been together for 20 years). All the Godparents had to be confrmed Catholics though.

  It was my understanding that I couldn't get married in a catholic church, even having a blessing was iffy, and future children couldn't get christened not because I wasn't Catholic, but because I'm not 'Christian' in that I'm not christened ANYTHING. I'm not bothered, don't feel that christening is important compared to leading a good life, just saying that based on that (I'm sure it was PIL's priest), it seemed exclusionary (is that a word?). I don't mean offense to anyone, and hope none was taken!

  I am Catholic & DH is Hindu.  We both practice our religions but would probably get excommunicated if the powers that be knew what we were really like!  DH goes to temple about 1x month & I go to Mass every weekend since I sing in choir or cantor in the summer.  I'm a vegetarian & DH loves meat, lol.  Obviously I don't follow the church's teaching on infertility tx being forbidden.  We celebrate holidays from both religions & if we ever have kids plan on exposing them to both beliefs.

  I'm Presbyterian but I have very rarely been to church. H is a non-practicing Muslim. M is Muslim (he doesn't need to be "baptised" into Islam), but he is attending Catholic school and most of his spiritual guidance will come from school. Later in life he can decide what he wants to do.

  *off topic* but I just have to add that I find it so adorable when M prays before he eats dinner (I guess he learned that in the cantine at school).

  I answered atheist. If I had to pick a religion, I would lean towards buddhism. Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism... are for me religions of acceptance and tolerance.
