How do you ladies weigh in on this?
Re: How do you ladies weigh in on this?
I LOVE this! This is how my 7 month old is. I can usually bf in private for the most part but sometimes public bf'ing is my only option.
I bet anything the OP is exaggerating. Sorry, but becoming a bfing mother doesn't turn you into an exhibitionist - no woman in her right mind is going to expose both of her breasts in a room full of people that she doesn't know, and sit like that for minutes while letting the baby decide which side to nurse from (WTF?).
So it's tall tales like that that give nursing mothers/nursing in public a bad reputation. Everyone swears up and down that they've seen a mom go overboard in exposing her breasts.....really? And everyone begs for discretion.....again, really? Yeah, I love having to pull my boob out of my shirt in public, hoping that Baby will latch quickly and stay under the cover, and hoping that no one gives me a hard time if they figure out what I'm doing. I purposely starve my baby before going out, just so I can nurse in public and show off my stretch marks on my boobs.
And my cover draws more attention to us than just pulling up the side of my shirt does. If seeing my nipple for 5 seconds bothers you, then don't look at me. And if seeing the top of my breast bothers you or makes your husband uncomfortable, you have issues and must be terribly upset every time you leave the house and see women wear anything other than turtlenecks.
I'd be pretty pissed off IF this scenerio did happen the way she describes. Especially at a child's birthday party that my small children would be attending or with my husband in the room. Inappropriate. My small children and HUSBAND do not need to be staring at your nasty, hanging udders. This is NOT a strip show, it's a small child's birthday party, get a fricken room.
BF until your heart is content----Whip your tit our discretely and nurse for christ sakes, you don't have to cause all kinds of commotion and bring attention to yourself making everyone else in the room feel uncomfortable. If YOU MUST remove your ENTIRE shirt and expose BOTH breasts in order to breastfeed, MAYBE you should do it in another room. I'm sure this wasn't the first time that she removed her entire shirt and flashed everyone, she's probabaly well aware that nursing isn't easy or discrete..... and she should have some respect for everyone else and for her friend's home and go into another room. It's not that serious.
No one is trying to take away her right to breastfeed--blah, blah, blah. You guys are ridiculous. People are just screaming for her to put away the topless show at a kid's party.
********IF AND ONLY IF THIS STORY HAPPENED THE WAY SHE SAID IT DID****
