I went out for a run this evening and it was AWFUL. Like, shockingly bad. Every damn second was a struggle.
I was thinking, "I am the worst runner in the world! Why am I so terrible? I'll never be able to do that 10k on the 17th! WHY DO I EVEN TRY!?" *cue tears welling up in eyes over how awful I am, not just as a runner, but as a person*
Seriously, I was getting all queasy weak feeling after a mile and a half.
And then it dawned on me that I haven't had a single real meal all day. And I lifted this morning. I got a haircut and was running errands this afternoon, which caused me to miss lunch, so all I ended up doing was snacking a little bit to keep myself from starving. I ate: a 6oz yogurt, a granola bar, a couple of cookies and some chips and salsa. All day.
Der.
And that is why you should eat things. The end.

Re: It helps if you eat things: the story of me being a tool.
Sorry your run was sucky, but I'm glad you figured it out!
This is why I always carry a couple of granola bars in the car.
