Purses poll - What are you using?
I'm curious! What do you use?
Confession: In the last 10 years, I have used (and continue to) 3 bags. A beat-up canvas tote from jcrew, a beat-up, nearly destroyed, got-me-through-Thailand/Malaysia/Japan canvas messenger bag that I can't bear to part with and a leather cross-body bag that's splitting in places.
It's time, I think, for a new purse. I don't like using more than one purse at a time, so I'm thinking it might be a good idea to get a diaper bag now... which, of course, means I'd rather it didn't look like a diaper bag. Any suggestions?
Re: Purses poll - What are you using?
I'm using the Anne Klein purse that chicha got me for SS! It's amazing, has a divided interior so I can separate baby stuff and my stuff (although baby stuff often ends up filling the whole bag anyway haha), and I get so many compliments on it.

I am currently carrying a Kate Spade bag that Dh got me for Christmas.
It looks like this. It's really great because it has 2 large compartments separated by a zippered compartment. For once in my life I am not searching for everything.
I carried a bright pink leather hobo bag for awhile it was cute but had no structure so everything rattled around in it.So i was always fishing for things. Lesson learned I like structure.
Before that I carried a coach messenger bag. That I think was originally intended to be a baby bag. I don't have babies but it seemed that it would be impractical to tote baby things in. It held a laptop fine though. It had no room for things that I think Moms carry, toys, diapers, bottles etc.
As you all know by now I am horrible with fashion. I got this purse on sale after christmas at Ross.
These 3 are my basic rotation:
Michael Kors Large Hamilton tote:
Michael Kors Gansevoort tote:
and if I have less to carry:
LV Monogram Vernis Avenue:
ETA: I saw your part about the diaper bag substitute. I think when I have a baby, I will probably use an LV Damier Neverfull.
I highly recommend the Roots line of leather purses. They are such good quality. I've got one that I can't find a picture of online that I love. Derek got it for me for my birthday 3 years ago and it's still going strong.
The only down is that it's mostly just open on the inside, so it's hard to find things sometimes.
Re: diaper bags, I've heard really good things about the Skip Hop bags, this one in particular looks much less "diaper bag"-ish.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
No experience with diaper bags.
I finally broke down and bought a nice B. Makowsky purse from Nordstrom Rack. The purse can handle my wallet, small makeup bag and my iPad for everyday use, but I still carry a canvas tote to work about 50% of the time for bringing lunch and stuff.
I carry a fitted skirt purse, which I love because you can change the outside without having to move everything and leaving something important in your other purse.
Because I commute, I also carry the Cindy Tote. It will hold my purse or lunch and umbrella, files, Kindle and all that other stuff you carry.

Well since I just got a new bag, I obviously have to pimp it out. Sorry for the picture overload.
Here you can see how it looks when I carry it. A little dark/blurry - sorry.
Here is the outside of the bag, closer up (and my lovely office carpet):
And here is the inside, because I love the liner:
A friend of mine recently started a customize-your-own purse business. She designs the shapes of the bags and then you can choose your own leather and lining. Her company is called Darlington Originals.
