Abortion poll

Re: Abortion poll

I do not find the poll too intrusive either. We talk about personal things all the time, it is anonymous, and no one hs to respond ir even open the post since subject matter is listed in the title. I voted no and would.call myself pro-life, but I would.never judge any woman who, when facing a difficult situation made the choice to abort. I agree with Blessed (surpisingly to me) that as women this is a topic that should not so taboo. People touch on.the topic, but rarely does it get personal which is odd when.it is such a personal thing.

Wait, did I do something to ruffle your feathers? :)

I am really sorry for starting something - I'm usually super non-confrontational on the internet. I think, for me, it's the term abortion - it's generally hated on my TTC-After a Loss board just due to the connotations. Many of us had to have a D&C but I would never call it an abortion although that's the term on most of the paperwork. I'm obviously super sensitive about all the TTC stuff lately.

I totally agree - was my choice to open the post and it was clearly labelled!

I also think it's sad that so many things around conception and pregnancy are so secretive. I hardly ever tell anyone (IRL) about this stuff but when I have, it turns out more people can relate than I would have thought. It's a shame that it's all shrouded in so much mystery nowadays, it makes the situations so many women face so lonely when there's no need for that.

I'm so sorry this hits you so hard.  I know you're going through some very difficult times.  Hugs!  I would never consider a D&C an abortion nor what happened with VABeach (so sorry you had to go through that!).  I didn't mean to imply that it is wrong to be sensitive about the subject and I don't think you were being confrontational at all.  I hope you know I wasn't trying to be insensitive to the fact that this is a very difficult topic for many women, but I am glad you agree that conversations about issues so many women face should be more open.

No, not at all!  I just meant that it is somewhat surprising to me that I agree this topic should be so open as such a staunch pro-lifer.  I think women are still getting the short end of the stick and have to keep so much hidden. I can see how it read as a dig at you, but I defiitely did not mean it that way.  Sorry for the awkward wording!

  • This poll does not offend me, I just find it random.

I think it is interesting though to know how many women have had an abortion. I am pro-choice and thankful to live in a country (Switzerland) that allows abortions (up to 12 weeks).

  • I wasnt offended by this poll.

I visited a friend in norway years ago and she and her friends were very open about abortion. Many of them had them and I was amazed at the differences in talking about it becuse it's very hush hush in the US. Don't know if this is common in Norway or just specific to that group of friends.
