Take a look at the choice of baby names from this list!
Re: Take a look at the choice of baby names from this list!
what is 'why strippers should not be allowed to name babies'.?
Why is she so concerned with the name being memorable? Is she really that convinced that her child will otherwise be forgettable?
Having people say "wow, that's a f?cking stupid name for a kid, I gotta tell everyone i know about it "=/= memorable.
Most of these creations are not names. They're letters that are jumbled together and "called" first names.
Do you like my extremely liberal high horse?
(thats her love for me showing in another post) lmao
I have a normal name that was popular at the time I was born. Except, my parents picked a less common way to spell it. It's still a 'normal' way to spell it, but I don't come across too many people that spell it that way. It's been a PITA most of my life because people just default to the more common way of spelling it and I get so tired of correcting people.
Did no one else notice that one of the women who is giving her a hard time has a kid named Adair?
ADAIR.
Pot meet kettle.
There was a poster on ML that's name choices were Landry, Hannah, Amelia and Madeleine. Of course EVERYONE was over the moon with the last three choices.
Sometimes, I think originality should be the goal if the rest of your choices are SUPER trendy at that moment. I'd rather have one Landry than Madeleine #14.

Hey I wasn't over they moon! They're fine. Trendy but fine. I don't really care about trendy, I love the name Olivia but refuse to use it bc it's too popular now.
So I don't have a bone to pick with trendy names, but omg please spell correctly.
Also, I was at the park the other day with X and a mom yelled "aiden" and five kids came running. Lol.
OMG this. Yikes!
All of those names make me want to weep for humanity.
Although we did give DD's name slightly non-traditional spelling so maybe I shouldn't be judging (she's Lea instead of Leah).
I meet a lot of students as part of my job and I see so many with names where it just seems clear their parents never gave any thought to the kid being older than 5 or so and having that name. One girl I met was named Stormi.

We miss you and love you always, little firecrackers!
A family friend of mine named his daughters Willow (which isn't too bad) and...
VELVET!
Mootherfooking VELVET!
It's just a matter of time before she hops on the pole.

My parents gave me one extra letter on my name (not an uncommon spelling, think Ann vs. Anne), but I still have to fix it for people all the time and it is a PITA. I can't even imagine what her kid will go through.
If you want a name that is a little different, then look for a different name. I can understand that. I mean, there were I don't know how many Jennifers in my classes. But then just find an uncommon name and spell it correctly. And make sure it doesn't sound like a stripper...
Ouch...says the lurker who's 2 month old is named Madeleine. I thought I was choosing the more traditional spelling since everyone else spells it Madelyn or Madeline. Ooops...
I don't think the spelling is the point. The point is that when you yell Madeline, Madeleine, or Madelyn, they all sound the same.
That goes for all you creative Aidan/Brayden/Jayden types. OH and the McKenzie, Madison, Addison, McKenna crowd too. No matter how you spell it, it's the same name as five other kids in their class.
Very true...of course when I named my first born Charlotte there were very few children with her name...just in the last few years that name has grown in popularity. I'm also not a fan of trendy names especially names where the "i" is changed to a "y", thus the reason I went for the traditional spelling of Madeleine.
She's only five weeks pregnant according to her sig ... why does she have to nail down a girl's name rightthissecond?
And as for the arguement
"& I don't think its accurate or fair to say they are "misspelled"...they are just not common spellings.
Like Kimberly vs. Kimberely
Ashlee vs. Ashleigh vs. Ashley
Britany vs. Britney vs. Brittany
Nicole vs. Nikole vs. Nichole"
These all still look like real names, that people who can get a job in an office would have.
"Jenavieve", "Kamryn", "Jaedynn"? Just name her Nevaeh, buy her a "Baby's First Stripper Pole" kit, and be done with it.
I'm more than willing to start validating people's ideas when they start having ideas worth validating
What pisses me off (not really) is that I named my DS Jacob in 1995. 1995 was the first year Jacob made the top 10 list of popular boys' names and it was also #1 on that list! I love the name, but may not have chosen it if I knew it would be the #1 name in the US for that year! It still continues to be in the top 10. He's going to run into a lot of people with his name in his lifetime.
Although, I'd still rather that he have a popular traditional name that's spelled correctly than to have a contorted name that no one knows how to pronouce or spell.
I feel like I need to defend Adair, LOL. It's a Scottish name I believe. It tends to be popular in the South too.
Brynnerle'ah Kyndyce is not a name though. It's what you'd call a pile of ribbons and lace that's been glitterbombed.
Honestly, what gives me the biggest WTF? face is that half those names were paired with Ruth and the OP is all "I f00king hate the name Ruth." Uh, then how about not naming your kid something you hate?
I will admit that I love McKenna and MacKenzie... but will obviously not name my kid those (unless it's 15 years from now and those are no longer popular names).
I have one of the most common girl's names EVER. I wish I had something just a LITTLE more unique.

"Jenavieve"?!
This makes me weep. A beautiful name has been desecrated.
I KNEW that was going to send you into a furious rage!

Yeah, Charlotte and Madeleine are both very beautiful, feminine and classy names. It's just that they've gotten popular, which isn't your fault!
I LOVED the name Noah about 7 years ago, but worried it was a bit too uncommon. The exact opposite was the problem when I finally got around to having a baby boy.
