Long story short. I have a job interview tomorrow. I'm not actively looking, this opportunity sort of fell into my lap.
It's an engineering firm, the attire tends to be business casual M - TH, and casual on Fr (jeans). I am interviewing with someone I have a close relationship with, we work together a lot on committees for our professional organization we belong. I just had lunch with her last Friday and was in jeans and flip flops.
It's for a Communications / Technical Writer.
What do I wear?
Black pants is an absolute; what do I wear with them?
PS It's jeans day at my office so there's that too.
Slainte!

Re: SOS - What to wear?
I'd still wear a suit. Just maybe with a more casual shell rather than a button down underneath.
ETA: I'd wear normal clothes to work. I changed in a parking garage bathroom for a late afternoon interview after work one time.
No matter how casual the work environment, I'm of the opinion that you should dress to impress for an interview.
If you have a blazer, wear that with a nice shell/button down and the dress pants. It doesn't have to be an actual suit, but I'd lean in that direction. Close-toed heels if you have them.

Do you have an outlet anywhere near you? Ann Taylor outlet has some great suits for not too expensive. Banana Republic does too sometimes but it's more hit or miss IMO.
