lol, no wonder some people hate evolution

They don't freaking understand it, for starters.

A friend's crazyass husband posts this quote on FB: "Atheism-- the belief that there was nothing & nothing happened to nothing & then nothing magically exploded for no reason creating everything & then a bunch of everything magically rearranged itself for no reason which then turned into dinosaurs.  And they mock YOUR beliefs."

me: that is not atheism.  That is nihilism.

him: I don't believe all Atheists believe it. I just know that some do. You can be an atheist and still subscribe to chaos theory. Personally, I'm Christian, but I believe in evolution and other scientific theories. I don't believe we evolved from monkeys though. (there was more, if you want it)

me: We didn't evolve from monkeys. They are just in the same taxonomic family because of a common root ancestor that diverged into hominids and monkeys.

him: *crickets*

oh, you are a bastard. If not for this, for something else. ;) but it is closer to believing in no purpose than believing in no god.

I agree. Not believing in a purpose is in line with nihilistic thinking.  However believing 'nothing happened' isn't.

It's just a dumbass quote he shat on his fb wall.  :)
