Job Related: References??
I actually need references for this one application I'm working on. I've been procrastinating on this area and been lucky that I haven't had to give any during an interview. My issue is that I have worked in the same dang place for too long (7 years) and deal with the same 5 people who are all either bosses or student assistants.
None of my references are going to be people i have worked with directly - more so just people that are/were in my building and know me and know my end results. Is this horrible? I know its not great but what else can i do?
Re: Job Related: References??
This is not good advice, mine were all checked.
Mine too. In fact that's usually how I figure out I have the job- when my old supervisors/professors let me know they have received a call checking me out.
I always check refrences as well and like sunny mentioed it is a red flag when there is no one on the list who has supervised or at least reported to the candidate.
Yeah, my references are always checked. And when I was involved in hiring we always checked references.
Do you trust one of your bosses enough to use them as a reference anyway? My old boss and I were very close and he knew I was looking, and I used him as a reference. He never said a word to anyone about it.
Sorry to thread jack, RT.
