Wow. So heartbreaking.
I am still in shock that this homicidal maniac is walking the streets while this young man is dead. I swear to you all that if this were to happen to one of my children you would be writting snail mail to me at the local prison because I would kill that man with my bare hands. Trayvons family is keeping it together much better than I ever would be able to. My thoughts are with them.

Bull. The tape is pretty damning. You hear the "Help me, Help me" while the 911 caller is saying it's the black guy on the ground (presumbably with Zimmerman's gun trained on him) and then the shot and howls of pain from the same voice. Then nothing. It was a cold blooded execution.
If they open themselves up to a lawsuit by arresting Zimmerman (not sure how they figure that), then they open themselves up to a lawsuit for any arrest, so hey, why bother arresting anyone ever?
If it was a black guy with a previous assault conviction found standing over a dead white body, I'm sure their reaction would be exactly the same, right.
Plus, aren't they opening themselves up to a lawsuit if they DON'T arrest him?

I wanted to throw things at my radio this morning when I was listening to CNN. They were playing the tapes and the anchor was like "These tapes just further confuse the situation and don't provide a clear account of what happened, who was calling for help, etc."
WHAT???? How is the whole self-defense claim not thrown out the door the SECOND Zimmerman started chasing after this kid???? These tapes make it completely clear that Zimmerman was not acting in self defense and in fact murdered this kid.
This story makes me so angry for that poor kid and his family. I hope they break Zimmerman in civil court for wrongful death.
I have gone over this a 100 times in my mind and I just don't get it, at all.
What am I possibly missing that could lead to this man just walking away...is there a shred of anything because I can't find it.
i sure in the shyt hope that everyone who isnt black like me keeps hounding the police, airwaves, print, and tv media for zimmermans arrest. again to any black person this is old news. it is a dayum everyday occurance. watch yourself. carry yourself so you arent a perceived threat. be respectful. dont hang around bad influences. stay off the street corner so they dont think you are a thug. now lets add just fucck it all and dont walk outside.
but anyway black folk make this all up and it is a figment of your imagination. people dont just think you are criminal because you are black.
This case makes my head want to explode. I just CANNOT understand how Zimmerman has not been arrested yet.
All the police need to arrest is probable cause, which is a really low threshold to meet. Then the homicidal maniac can present evidence of his supposed self-defense claim at a preliminary hearing or trial. Why the police department is taking on the role of judge & jury is boggling my mind.
I really hope the family's attorney and/or the ACLU starts taking this case to the steps of the AG or US Attorney's office since jack$hit is being done at the local level. Fuuuuck it, if the DA's office wanted to, they could have their own investigators start doing SOMETHING and try to get an arrest warrant.
There is no doubt that had the races been reversed, someone would already be in jail, since that's only happened a gazillion times or so.
Andplusalso - One of Zimmerman's priors was for resisting arrest or battery on a peace officer right? Why in fuucccking hell are the cops trying to protect this guy? Most cops do not look so fondly on anyone that causes trouble for their own.

Who gives a flying f*** about a lawsuit? Looks like the police are going to get sued either way so why not get sued despite making the ethical decision as opposed to sued because they made the unethical decision?

Zimmerman clearly said in the tapes something to the effect of he was tired of "them" getting away with causing trouble. We all know the "them" is young black males. He took matters into his own hands on an innocent child and it doesn't make one ounce of sense why he hasn't been arrested.
This is local news where I live and I was listening to a show called SBK Live on my way to pick up DD from dance class tonight. He was laying everything that happened out in a timeline and then played the 911 tapes as they came in.
I started crying in the car as the tape with the kid saying, "help me" played. I do not think that it was Zimmerman who was saying that. The "help me's" stopped as soon as the bullet went off.
That poor kid was hunted down by Zimmerman and it sickens me that he is free.
