Happy Wednesday! How's everyone doing?
I sort of hopped on a rascal this past week. I've just been so ravenous - I've been working out more often and also harder, so I suspect that's the culprit. I just have to get back to basics and stick with tracking my food (and beverage) intake. Also, my recovery from NROLFW has taken a lot longer - I'm still incredibly sore in my quads, hamstrings and calves from Monday morning's workout. I'm on Stage 2 (this is my second time going through the program), and I'm lifting much heavier weights at this stage than during my first go-round, but maybe it's too much if I'm still this sore. I just started making whey protein shakes and drinking them after workouts, but it's too early to tell if they help or not. I'm wondering if a foam roller would help too.

Re: # - Rascal Avoidance Club check-in
I've been ravenous this week too. and i ate a lot of red meat! oh noes!
I'm pretty much flat for the week. still at a solid 20 total lbs weight loss, after getting myself correct after the stomach bug. no volleyball tonight as I have to go to stupid 'hood meeting, but I'll be upping my other workouts to compensate. DH has been out of town and I've been very happy with myself that I still managed to get my workouts in (by parking kiddo in front of the tv, but oh well, we have to make sacrifices).
I am in awe of people who lift. I always feel silly lifting but I am going to incorporate it into my 10K plan.
I ran my 5K on 3/17. :0)
During the race, I kept thinking that I had to report back to DH, my in-laws, thenest and facebook friends as I had clearly stated what my goal was in this race (to run the whole thing and to finish under 35). I could see the clock at 34.35 and started to kick a lot because I really wanted that under 35 time. I came across the clock at 34:49. My net time was 34.01. I met both of my goals!!!
Also, AW, DH has a personal best and finished 64th at 21:16.
My 3 year old did the 100 yd dash with me. She was so very proud of herself. She beamed the entire way, holding my hand for part of it and pumping her little arms the other part of it. She got to cross the big finish line and each participant was given a bag with their medal, a fruit snack and a water.
My 5 year old ran the 1/2 mile with DH. She did so well. It was untimed but Dh said she darted out at full speed then petered out and rekicked towards the end. I got to see her cross the finish line but unfortunately didn't have my camera for that part. She raised $330 for CCMC, too! :0)
I lost another lb so I'm officially 2lbs away from my goal and 4lbs away from my pre-pg weight. Very exciting and I definitely feel the difference now that I'm getting closer. I also see the difference in my portion sizes and cravings - I hardly ever manage to finish all of whats on my plate now.
Marie - I would definitely make sure you are getting enough protein post-weight workout. I'm a big fan of the protein shakes after intense weights - and so was my trainer. You could also do a smoothie with greek yogurt and flax seed for the protein, but i find the shakes the best.
Also - the foam rollers are magical, but the first few weeks you will be MORE sore after.
I've been doing moderate weights, walking and the stationary bike most days now that I got the ok again from my GP. I'm up 24lbs @32 weeks, so I'm doing okay, but I was really hoping to limit total weight gain to 25lbs, so that won't happen. My new goal is to limit total gain to 32 lbs, which my GP said is both realistic and healthy.
I don't deserve to be a part of the group, I have exercised a total of four times this month. I have gained about five lbs. but thanks to a bad turkey leg from the renaissance festival this past weekend, I lost three of those lbs. My desire to not eat meat is keeping them off.
I think April 1st (the irony is not lost on me) would be a good time to get back to it as I will continue to average 60 hours a week through the end of the month.
my read shelf:
I'm down 1lb from last week, which doesn't suck, but I feel like I'm making progress at a snails pace. I'm getting very discouraged.
I'm making a concerted effort to do 10 min on the LTT while H is in the shower first thing in the morning. Now that the weather has cleared up I can go back to taking walks at lunch. But I really need to figure out something to do to shake things up.
I did my first half marathon Saturday and came in with an awesome time 1:53:36. I haven't run since due to soreness (I tried last night but failed miserably), but I'm hoping to run tonight.
I even convinced to DH to sign up for a half-marathon over Labor Day weekend and I want to sign up too, but since it's in VA Beach, I need to find a sitter. I grew up there, but my parents have since moved away, so my connections are limited to HS facebook friends.
DH and I are running a 10-miler in less than a month and I'm planning on starting a Hal Hidgon speed spring training plan in a few weeks. I also got NROLW from the library and have started reading it. I've never lifted before, but I'm excited and nervous about starting.

Congrats, Brookles!
I really need a new job for both my mental and physical health.
Bah. Rascal!
Still at 8.5 lbs down like I have been for the last 3 weeks.
I binged on crescent rolls last night. Oops.
I think I'm going to try going low carb starting Monday (after I get back from vacation) to try and get back into gear.
Thanks, bridey! And yes, you do. How's the job search coming?
New goal: Lose 5 lbs by my birthday in May. It's a small goal, but I could use a small accomplishment going into 25.
We started a Hulu Plus trial. There are some really fun dance workouts on there, so I can change up the routine. If I get this new job, I'll have to rethink my workout schedule. I do best in the morning, but if I report at 8 a.m. with a 30 min commute, that ain't happening.
Good luck Brookles!
Chilly, I promise I am not making myself out to be a martyr even though this is what it will totally sound like, but...
I'm awake before 5:00 am to work out and my commute is 1.5 hours door to door. If I can do it with everything stacked against me, I bet you can work with your schedule too.

Congrats Mlwooten!!
I did awesome this week! So far I've lost 10lbs, and since Saturday afternoon, I've eaten 4 pieces of toast, one bagel and a bag of pretzels. I call this the "I'm going to fuuuuuckings kill the germy shiiity undergrad who gave me this violent stomach virus" diet.
Seriously. This thing is the devil. But when I gave up and went to the doctor yesterday to beg for drugs, I saw number on the scale I haven't seen in years and thought "Hmmm, maybe this isn't so bad."
I am looking forward to feeling normal again.
