Did your parents fight in front of you when you were little?

Re: Did your parents fight in front of you when you were little?

  • Nope.  The first fight I remember witnessing was when I was in high school.  They tried really hard to kept that bs away from us kids.

  • Yes, both my parents fought in front of my siblings and I. As well, my mom and her ex-husband after my parents divorced. I was in therapy most of my teenage years and I think it helped with my anger. I didn't go looking for fights, but I was super defensive and usually made an argument bigger than it should have been. Honestly what helps me the most is to stop and really think about the issue at hand (work or personal) and take a deep breath. Easier said than done, but it works for me.

  • Very very rarely.

I think that even though my family was fvvcked in so many other ways, my parents did a good job with communication and teaching us how to talk without fighting. I am always the one to bring up an issue that bothers me in relationships and friendships because I hate harboring negativity and anger. I say how I feel in most cases. I would rather talk about it and move on. I didn't hear them fight at all until they were in the middle of a divorce when I was about 8 years old.
