Re: Hunger Games
Yes, I agree about Peeta not being sick enough. Especially the past about blood poisoning.
in the book, they're in that cave for at least a week or more. in the movie, it's a day or 2. i don't think it detracted from the story that we didn't see them living in the cave for so long, and him getting sicker and sicker.
and i don't think the soup was drugged, she just left when he was asleep versus having to drug him like in the book. and the medicine she got for him was to heal cuts...hence why it healed her head too. her burn medicine wouldn't have done anything.

My dh and I did not read the books but wanted to go see it. Neither of us were really confused by anything although the way the camera is always moving made us both feel almost sick for the first few minutes.
The only thing I thought maybe they would "explain" was the kissing fingers and holding them up, but once they did it a few times I just figured it was like a salute or a way to honor someone who has fallen.
I felt that the relationship building between characters was done well considering the amount of characters they had to make us understand in a short amount of time. Its like a war movie where you feel the urgency, danger and fear in the situation so you can make friendships and connections with people quicker.
I want to read the books now, dh said he probably won't see the next movies in the theatre but he did enjoy this one for what it was.
DH and I saw it last night (neither of us have read the books), and we understood everything just fine.
What exactly is supposed to be confusing about it?

I think that if you had read the books, you would understand so much more about the characters and their motivations so for those of us that read it before seeing the movie, we were left a little underwhelmed with the character/relationship development. Because we are "in the know," it makes it hard for us to understand how anyone else would care about the characters since you know so little about them from just seeing them on screen.
I saw it with a friend who had not read the book and she thought it was great and wasn't confused by any of it either.

I guess I see what you mean. I felt that way with the Harry Potter books. So many details that added to the richness of the story, and the development of the character motives were cut
But, yes I followed it just fine. When I did have a moment of confusion about something, it was explained a few scenes later.
I bought the book for $5 for the Kindle Fire the other day. Wanted to see the movie first because I knew I would nitpick it otherwise. My DH just started reading it. He is only a few chapters in, and he says there are already SO many differences.
