Jobs are open but no one wants t hem
Re: Jobs are open but no one wants t hem
chi, I did have a job out of college paying under 30k. It worked b/c I had a savings account and no loans. Someone moving for what you're offering very well could be in deep debt before they even begin, with student loan debt, first/last month + security deposit, all other moving costs. Everytime we move we get at least $500 for incidentals, and we're not even paying moving companies. We even get temporary housing paid while we house hunt. Even with that, $500 doesn't often cover the cost of setting up a new place.
What kind of start is that? And you're using an employment gap as threat that you wouldn't hire them in the future? Someone deciding that it costs more money to take your job than they make doesn't sound too stupid to hire.
I'm unemployed. I can't just up and move. As tartaruga said, it's expensive coming up with first, last and security on a new place, plus the cost of moving itself, plus penalties if I break my lease.
And what if I was married? My H would have to find a new job, too. No sense in us moving so that I could get a job, only to have him end up unemployed in the new city.
Yeah, this is me too. I mean, I'm no kid straight out of college but um...will work for decent salary and company car.
Sorry, the part that used to make sense was doubting someones work ethic if they had gaps in their employment, except then the bottom dropped out and half the freaking country was unemployed.( exaggeration) so now to discount a prospective employee because they have gaps, to me, is stupidity.
And 30k a year is just beans, at least in the 3 states I've lived in so far. I would spend 2/3s of that on rent alone.
