I feel like between the rapist-husband last night (but the wife cheated which means, what....?) and this poster who is now insisting that because there was Trayvon had pot at some point....he wasn't a stand-up guy.....so therefore.....what? these boards are getting super nutty.
It's like people come thisclose to coming out and finishing those thoughts but just don't. Just own it. the failure to do that is driving me batty because I feel like they are cowards on top of everything else.
I haven't been able to put my finger on why I was feeling so off about those posts, so thank you. I'm not able to articulate my queasiness about a lot of these Trayvon Martin posts.
I certainly have some different opinions on the case; but I certainly think a LOT of privledge/institutional racism/ and overt racism have show their faces with some of these posts.

It's that they (the media) are making it into a racism issue when Zimmerman is Latino. And OMG, they are showing pictures of Trayvon from several years ago, when he was innocent looking.
But, again, so? I just dont get their point. Are there no latino racists? I always thought that there were huge tensions between the hispanic and black populations (at least in gang-affected areas), but maybe that is just in LA.
Well, it's not as bad as it could've been. That's something.
It's that people are so eager to play the race card when really, anything short of the Holocaust isn't a hate crime. People of different races kill each other all the time and its not about race. As we learn more facts we will learn the truth about what happened that night. (that's all pretty close to straight from that thread.)

And a poster said that it wasn't a race thing, because sometimes her big, scraggly looking white husband is thought to be suspicious.
So I guess if one white person ever looked suspicious to another white person then racism doesn't exist.
This case is going to give me an aneurysm.
The board got more riled up over the chick who got an SUV instead of keeping her small sedan than they did over the woman with two kids and another on the way that can't afford to pay healthcare or the stupidity spewing about Trayvon Martin.
