Did you discuss why this wasn't a nationwide uproaring event?
Teens set kid on fire for being 'white boy'
MEENA HART DUERSON
Sunday, March 04, 2012
A 13-year-old boy who police say was doused with gasoline and lit on fire last week while walking home from school is recovering from first-degree burns to his face and head.
The boy was just two blocks from his home in Kansas City Tuesday when two teenagers began to follow him and then attacked him, his mother, Melissa ***, said.
Police have described the suspects as black 16-year-olds, while the victim is white.
"We were told it's a hate crime," *** told KTLA.

Who "me?"
So what is this? The new version of if black people can have BET why can't white people have WET?

Well, for one, he didn't die. For two, there hasn't been centuries of systematic racial hatred against whites. For three, the suspects have been arrested, and will probably be tried. ETA: My fault for not reading the story, I see the suspects have not been found.
Not all things are equal, and this news story definitely is not.
ETA: Remember backwards B girl from last election season and how much traction that got because she was a white girl who was "held down and had B for Barack scratched into her cheek"? There was a ton of uproar about that because it was said to be racially motivated... and then it came out that she had did it herself.
Again, I think if he had been seriously injured or killed, it would have been a much bigger story.
He had first-degree burns, which is not exactly news-making.It clearly did or you wouldn't have heard of it.
Who "me?"
Clearly it got press, you posted three articles about it.
SHAZAM!
Didn't you just post 4 links to the story? So, did it get some press or no or just not a sufficient amount for you?
and you have half a president. you guys get EVERYTHING.
It's also interesting that supposedly these kids said "you get what you deserve, white boy" yet that's not in the police report.
RPTY - Did you hear about Oscar Grant? James Byrd? I'm guessing no. Sh!t like this gets missed all the damn time. This isn't a 'who's-got-it-worse-off' battle.

What is interesting?
Two times in a row we post the same thing? The Facebook messages must be flying!
Who "me?"
Out with it! Don't beat around the bush with your opinion!
We did discuss it... when it happened, a month ago.
You realize the issue with Zimmerman is that he WASN'T arrested and it ISN'T yet being seen as a hate crime, right?
40/112
lol, I am not sophisticated or patient enough to have an alter. I can't even upload a pic of my kid without asking for assistance from the board.
Because whitey deserved it. Helleeeer!
In all seriousness, my head hurts from explaining this ad nauseum. There is a difference between one person's hatred/bias/anger/idiocy and a systemic fault in the way society perceives certain race/gender combinations. The Trayvon Martin case isn't about the crime in and of itself. It's about the results of centuries of ingrained perceptions about black men.
We wouldn't be discussing this case at all if Trayvon and Zimmerman had gotten into a fight over a woman or something.
Click me, click me!
I didn't expect the "support" for lack of a better word for promoting discussion and coverage of one over the other.
Why not? You framed the discussion as a comparison between the coverage. If you wanted to discuss it independently, why didn't you just post the article for discussion?
Or if Zimmerman had been arrested. Hell, if he would have been arrested and it never went to trial, I'd be willing to bet that the uproar wouldn't have been as large.
