Jeesh...where do you all live? $4.70 here in the city. Thankfully, I take public transportation.

While I still find that cheap, thats certainly higher than most have posted. I wonder if geography has something to do with it - I'm only 6 hours from Chicago.

That's what is so weird - we are almost a dollar higher than almost everywhere else. So what the heck? Apparently part of it is taxes. And something about our "unique blend" - that's the first I've heard of this in Chicago. I thought California had special regulations - or special gas blend? If so, why is ours still the highest? Anyway...

It's just under $.50 a liter, so around $1.75 ish a gallon. But I'm not in the US an the government here subsidizes gas prices.

Wow! Publius, how is KL treating you? Anything that is a total shocker, either good or bad?

  • I paid 3.64 a gal this morning in Minneapolis, but only because I had a 15 cent coupon from getting groceries the other day

Weren't you in Switzerland before this? The lower gas prices must be a real treat!

CA has higher emissions standards for cars, but AFAIK, our gas is the same as anywhere else. We have to have our cars "smog checked" every 2 years. That's it. There's no state auto inspection. You just drive the rustiest piece of junk and as long as you aren't spewing too much pollution, you're good. I have to get my car checked for smog for the first time this year, since it's now 6 years old. And if you have a classic car (before 1981, I think) you're exempt.

  • $3.99 - $4.09, $.10 more for credit at most places. I'm on the East End.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • $4.19 - $4.39 for Regular (87) in the South Bay

We have refineries and hour away in Martinez but gas costs even more there.

My truck has a 26 gallon tank so it's real fun to fill up.

  • $3.75

I'm glad we downsized DH's car when we did. Even though it was paid off, we're still paying less money with a loan + gas, then we were paying just gas with his old car.

A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • I think I saw $4.69 this morning. I'm in Chicago. Thankfully, I don't have to purchase any.

I want Sibil to wake up and tell me what it is on Oahu. We've contemplated a move there before just because we love Hawaii.

    I'm up!  I thnk it's something like 4.60.

The worst part of the high gas prices is that it's tied to our electric costs.  Our power plants are diesel I believe.  So, even though I run nothing electric but what it takes to cook, do laundry, power a laptop, and a couple ceiling fans that usually aren't on, my bill is usually $150.  Honestly, I have no idea how it's that high, but it's been consistent since we moved in.  I'm half convinced someone's leeching off us, but at 31 cents/kwhr, that's probably not the case.

  • I have no idea. Probably around $4? I live in a happy bubble.

Yes we were and yes they are. I'm actually loving living here. It's the easiest and most fun place we've ever lived. I don't know how shocking this is but the thing that SA the hardest for me to get used to I that Malay men generally won't talk to me. If H and I are standing somewhat close to one another and I ask a question they'll direct the answer at H almost all of the time.
  • Last I saw it was $4.31.  The mid to high $3 range is what it's been around here for years.

  • In Oz its $5.70 a gallon and in NZ $8 a gallon
The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.
  • I think it's right around $4.

I hate that.  I've gotten it all over, though.  I don't even remember where or by whom, or even if it was just from the military.  I just know I've experienced it a lot in the last few years.

I'm used to getting it at a place like Best Buy, even though I'm the one who does all the research and decision making about anything electronic.  Buying a new tv was the worst.  The guy wouldn't even make eye contact with me, despite me asking the questions.

Also, just filled up today.  Paid 4.42 for regular.  It's .20 more for premium.

  • around $4.25 at the cheap place
