Our foster has found his home.

CryingCryingCrying

Oscar will be leaving us on Monday. I'm happy and sad at the same time. I knew we couldn't keep him. I never actually wanted to keep him (not to say he isn't awesome, but life with 3 dogs is different than life with 2 dogs), but that doesn't mean I'm not on the verge of bawling right now.

Doglove, please don't let this discourage you. Let's blame this on hormones, mmmmkay. I know in my heart this is awesome all around, but I will still miss the little buggar.

Re: Our foster has found his home.

  • Awwwww. I know fostering will be tough for me because I always have a hard time with loss, but I think helping pups will be worth it. Maybe in the end, I will be able to handle loss better after going through it more often - or not.

    Embarrassed

I don't think FI has thought about this aspect of fostering, he knows I am an emotional disaster when when I lose a pet. I know we're not ready for another dog at this time though, so I'll just try to keep that in mind during these types of hard times.

  • Congratulations!  I am always sad for me when my fosters are adopted but happy for them.

ETA: Dog love, it does get easier the more you foster because you know how loved they are when they're adopted.  But, DH has a hard time saying goodbye which is why we don't foster as much as we used to.

  • This is a good thing, Motz!
I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
  • Aw, I'm sorry you have to say good bye, but it's a good thing Motz!  You'll get to go back to a 2 dog household and you'll know that Oscar is with a family that adores him.
