Have you ever made a really expensive mistake you have to live with for years?

Re: Have you ever made a really expensive mistake you have to live with for years?

  • Getting student loans for grad school. State of NY requires a Masters to teach after 5 years. I had been teaching for 3 years when I moved here, and my student loans were almost paid off from undergrad. Then I started grad school at a diploma mill and went $10k into debt. Then I transferred to a better college (where I should have gone in the first place) and went in another 8k. I started 6 years ago and I don't want to teach anymore, I don't want to finish, and I was laid off this year. My passion for teaching is dead and I owe about 20k for that sucker so I am damn well going to have to finish it. {I am in a summers only program, I took 2 summers off in the middle while having babies, the first 2 years were in the sucky college that I paid 10k and got nothing in return but 2 classes worth of credits.}
