So what are you reading now?
I just placed an order with Amazon this weekend and I wished that I would have asked this question before. What are you reading now?
Re: So what are you reading now?
Just working on re-reading The Hunger Games, but on my reading list are:
The new Sophie Kinsella
Game of Thrones
Chronically hilarious - you'll split your stitches!
I wrote a book! Bucket list CHECK!

Murder on the Ballarat Train.
But I have 9 new books on the way. I was ordering my mother's birthday present from Amazon and then next thing I knew 9 books had magically appeared in my cart... I really do not know how it happened.
Traveling: Have you read Everything is Iluminated? I adore that book.
Me too! I also liked the movie, amazingly enough since the movies are rarely good after you read the books.
I also want to read the new Kinsella. I'm going to wait until our next trip to get it. I have this habit of reserving chick-lit for when I travel.
I don't have much time to read these days but as soon as I am finished with The Meaning of Happiness I'm going to have to tackle the Quick and Legal Will Book I purchased. Next on the Amazon reading list will be A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
There's a new series, only 2 of the 3 books are published so far. I loved the first and will probably read the second some time this week. The first is called Matched and the second book is Crossed. Its sort of in the same category as The Hunger Games, but I think its better written.
Right now, I'm reading Worth Dying For, a novel by Lee Child. Over the weekend I read another book by him in the Jack Reacher series and now I'm hooked.
My dh loves Lee Child, I haven't read any of his stuff but should. I just read all 3 of the hunger games, I enjoyed it despite thinking I wouldn't. I have like 4 books going right now and can't remember the name of any of them, which is a problem.
No I haven't read it yet. I saw the movie, but I think it was in a busy period in my life and I didn't watch it from start to end in one setting.
I'm halfway through Spooky Little Girl by Laurie Notaro. It's really good so far. Next on my list is As Young As We Feel by Melody Carlson and Is Everyone Hanging Without Me? by Mindy Kaling.
The last three books I finished were A Year Without Autumn by Liz Kessler, In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer by Irene Opdyke (really good!) and The 3rd Sookie Stackhouse book.
2012 Reading Challenge
Now Nesting from Chicago, IL My nail blog:
Um... I'm reading my wedding planner (All Things Are Ready) and the Bible. I'm doing a Bible in 90 days challenge and just started the New Testament. Just a few weeks left!
The last novel I read was Wildflowers from Winter which was excellent.
I really want to read Catching Fire. I've only read The Hunger Games in the trilogy so far and haven't gotten the other two yet."I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels." -Isaiah 61:10 NKJV
I just finished reading Rosemary's Baby and before that Stupeur et Tremblements (Nothomb) and will probably soon start Hygi?ne de l'assassin by Am?lie Nothomb.
Ryansbeloved, I am impressed if you made it even through the whole old testament in 90 days! I have attempted that and never make it very far
It gets rough when they start in on the dimensions things and very technical descriptions that I apparently cannot conceptualize.
I just finished a John Grisham book that I'd bought for dh as an anniversary present last week... he is not going to be too pleased with the book I think! It was a Theodore Boone book, which I didn't realise was a YA book before I bought it... realised on page 2 though... As "compensation" I'm going to get him a Lee Child book... the first Jack Reacher book.
On the same order is The Hunger Games, which is my next book club book. Haven't read anything in a while before that... just wasn't in the mood for a book.
Potato Pie - I loved Kitchen Confidential a good few years ago! I worked in hospitality at the time and could relate. Have you read his fiction? I liked this too.
Not yet. I've only read A Cook's Tour. But now I'll check out his fiction too. Thanks!
Oh my god. I've had dreams about meeting him. I want to invite him to my mother in-laws house in Calabria for the annual pig killing (yes, they still do it). Or at least to Cape Town, where I know exactly which restaurants he'd like.
But I can understand. I was just talking about him with someone else and they said they can't read his books because he's too full of himself, which is true.
Has he done a show in Cape Town or Calabria? His fees and demands (this was maybe 4 or 5 years ago) weren't too bad actually.
I will say, when it came to all the food and chef things we had for our event, he was more than gracious. He made a point to go into the kitchen where I worked and meet everyone. He hung out there longer than everywhere else. Which makes a lot of sense. We also hosted a book signing that was only supposed to be an hour or so. The line got a lot longer than the bookstore had expected, but he stayed until all the people in line got their book signed (which was a total of 3 hours).
I've read these as well. Although some aspects of this series feel flagrantly taken from The Giver, I still really enjoyed them and thought that they raised some really interesting questions. For instance, if someone else choses who you will marry, and you then love them, is that love real?
I'm looking forward to the third book.
Nothing now, but last week I blew through the three Hunger Games books in 3 days! Needless to say I really enjoyed them. I also was just in love with reading which I haven't had time to do for a long time.
Not sure what I'm going to move onto next...you all have given me some good ideas though.
2012 Reading Challenge
I really enjoyed A Countess Below Stairs when I read it, and A Company of Swans is coming up soon on my to-be-read list.
Good to know. Who knows if it could happen in the future.
