Re: Confessions

  • my boss is on vacation and I left early yesterday because I didn't feel like doing a thing. I felt bad, but was able to get a few things done that I wouldn't have been able to without that extra hour.
  • I've decided that my 5 year plan includes a new job and a newish life in Texas.

Another reason ProBoards annoys me is because they show ads for my work and they are sooo obnoxious.  I unsubscribed on my personal email because I couldn't take it anymore.

I wish other people would do their jobs so that I could more easily do mine.  My weekly task list, which is 27 items long, had 16 items I need other people to do something for.  I am done with all 11 items which I am independently responsible for.  Of the 16 other things, I have only gotten 1 of them from other people.  :hulk smash:

  • I had the best intentions of going home and eating a nice, healthy salad for lunch. But then when I got home, Guy was awake and he persuaded me into a nooner. Thus I blame him for the fact that I didn't have time to make a salad and had to swing by Arby's on my way back to work.

I'm watching my nephews tonight and I'm kind of feeling resentful towards my sister because I watch her kids all the time but she never offers to watch mine.

I am also feeling resentful towards my sister because, once again, all of the birthday party planning has fallen to me. And I didn't even get to do the theme I wanted.

  • I have tadpoles in my classroom now, and I think I'm a little too obsessed with them. It's like I'm channeling all of my poor abused maternal instinct into their care. If they don't make it and become frogs, I might not be able to deal.
  • I almost hit someone in a Target parking lot yesterday.  There was an idiot taking 10 years to back out of a spot, so I threw it in reverse and went flying backwards to just park in a further spot.  Except someone was baking out behind me.  Whoops.

i'm eating Jimmy Johns for lunch.

All this talk about f*cking celebrities has made me rather horny.  We might have to get a quickie in before my flight this evening.

  • I should be prepping more for my phone interview thats in an hour, but instead I'm on here, reading everyone MFMs.

Reading those is also making me feel a lot better/more normal about the celebs(etc.) I find fvckable, since quite a few already listed would definitely be on my list. (thats right, Anthony Bourdain and Geoffrey Zakarian)

  • I dinged a car with my car door yesterday.  That's what you get for parking like an @sshole.

     I had McDonald's for lunch.

  • Every Thursday I watch old Grey's Anatomy on Lifetime from 1:00-4:00.   Alex naps for about an hour and half of that tine and then it's just on while we're playing an snacking.
  • As I wsa coming onto the highway yesterday morning, some @sshat decided to speed up an practically run me off the road. I flipped her off and called her every name in the book (including a "stupid "). As I was getting off at my work's exit, guess who was right in front of me?!?!? Come to find out, this lady works on the floor above me. I purposely drove around the block before entering the lot.

  • I have been spending more time today changing pictures on my FB and siggy than working this afternoon.... but I had a horrible morning, so I feel justified.

MIL said she's coming over tonight to visit.  I see this as an excuse for her to keep Sam occupied while I try to clean up the house some before we go away

I am also secretly happy my crappy files are coming up to close while I'm away, leaving my sister to handle them.

It's all good, you burned some extra calories instead.

Mine is that I have 44 days, 4 hours and 29 minutes left at my job before our move and I am finding it harder and harder to get things done. I  have senoiritis, and I don't think I really care. I should stop procrastinating because there are things I need to do before I leave, but I just cant find the motivation.

This cracks me up, DD, because I completely understand how you feel.

I confess that I took today off from WW so I could eat a spicy chicken guacamole sandwich (with fries and a non-diet pop) from Wendy's after scuba class. And it was glorious.

I bought myself a fertility bracelet for my birthday. DH likes it but has no idea it's a fertility bracelet, and I'm not going to tell him because I think he'll think I've completely lost my mind. But it's really pretty :)

  • I spent all afternoon looking at houses in Texas.  This is in one of the 3 suburbs my husband said we could live in and the mortgage would be less than our rent here:

    http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/5440-Royal-Lytham-Rd_Fort-Worth_TX_76244_M74037-62491

Beautiful, oodles of counter space, a nice yard for Grace to run around in, good schools, etc.  I am dying of lust right now.  Look at that cute star on the back of the house!!!!!!!!!

Duuuuude we need to look together. So we can be neighbors. I think Grace would love to play with my small dogs. lol

and our kids could be friends.

There are some nice, reasonably priced gated communities in the FW area if that interests you at all.

I applied for 2 jobs yesterday with UNT....if I end up there, we will probably end up living in Lantana- the planned community where my parents live. It gorgeous, has pools, parks, golf course, fun events for kids, etc. Its just kinda far from the downtowns.

Agreed that we need to look together/ have dog and child friends.

Kirk said we can live in Coppell, Keller, or Southlake- apparently those are acceptable school districts for a balance of education and sports.  That's it (clearly a real estate snob), but, if you find anything in those locations, send it my way!

The house I love in Coppell is in a gated community.  It's a little bit out of our price range, but if we're being realistic, it'll probably be 3 years before we move, so maybe by then we'll be able to get whatever house we want in TX.

Sidenote: can you explain to me what this third living room thing I keep seeing on listings is?  Is it a playroom?  I can't quite figure it out, but whatever it is, apparently it is the size of our current living room, dining room and kitchen combined.  WANT.

Coppell is great- but you are going to pay a Fing FORTUNE in property tax because of the schools. Most people live there till their kids graduate and then move because they're sick and tired of the property taxes- significantly more than the surrounding area.

Yeah I'm okay with it because Coppell property taxes are still less than property taxes here and the schools don't suck, plus if Kirk ever decided he wanted to be a politician he's actually from Coppell, so, I think we'd end up there.

The Lotus Toggle Clasp: The lotus flower is a long standing symbol for the sun, creation, rebirth, divinity and fertiltiy.
Rose Quartz (pink): Believed to encourage fertility and with emotional stability. it is the most popular of fertility related gemstones.
Moonstone (whitish): Supports a women's connection to the Goddess and the moon. It is said to regulate a woman?s menstrual and fertility cycle. Boosts female energy.
Clear Crystal Quartz is a stone of power. It has healing, protection and balancing properties. It is also used in maintaining your body?s immune system.
Aventurine (greene): Supports reproductive health which in turn promotes fertility, It is the color of pale green which symbolizes a fertile earth.
Sky Blue Aquamarine (blue): Highly protective during pregnancy, it helps to guard both mother and baby from harm. Discourages miscarriage.
Two charms hang from this bracelet: A silver ?Turtle? charm, symbolizing protection and fertility, as well as a Aventurine and Rose Quartz amulet.

I also like that it's got pink, blue and white (which are the colors of pregnancy loss awareness ribbons), and aquamarine is my birthstone. :)

  • Meghan, that's awesome.  I love the sentiment.

JA, I found a house for you.  Bonus points because it already has a ballet studio for Miss Mad.

Also, real estate snob will also consider Richardson, but only in areas that feed into JJ Pearce HS.  I don't even know how to look for those things.

Ooh I like that. Its obv one of the first ones built in Lantana because it doesn't have granite. Which isn't a dealbreaker. We could put that in later. Love the studio!

Yeah, I sent a few to Kirk and was like "we'd have to re-do the kitchen, buuuut..."  It is a gorgeous house, love the entryway and the layout.

When people (like you) move from a VHCOL to a LCOL (I consider Dallas area LCOL...would you?) do people normally take a pay cut? I would assume in a VHCOL people pay more to offset living costs...but maybe not? I was thinking about this the other day and was just curious.

When SIL went to grad school in Austin, her now-husband was able to move down there and still telecommute to his job here in Boston, so he was getting the same pay rate regardless.  I remember them telling me that the amount of money he was making was enough to support them both while she was in school full-time and rent them a 3-bedroom house during their tenure in Texas.  I was impressed and shocked at the same time.

I def consider Dallas LCOL.  I think Kirk would have to take a pay cut, but I'm really underpaid for my industry, so if I had to guess, I'll make the same/ maybe a little bit more than I do now because my salary increase scale is on track based on the position I was hired into and not the position I'm in now- if I leave and start somewhere else with the years of experience, I'd go in at a higher rate because I'm being paid less than market value for my work.

Either way I wouldn't be too concerned about it because all of the houses we looked at (5 bed, 3+ baths) would have mortgages between $5-900 less than we pay in rent right now, so we could afford to take the pay cut for him, especially if my move compensated for it.

  • I had a great morning, until I got home and Matt was just about to eat the last piece of left over pizza I was planning to eat... which paired with being maimed by a few niners (not a big deal, i actually was prepared for a lot more when I saw the post) I'm super bumed out. It could also be the exhaustion...

I confess that everyone around me thinks I never cry about anything even in the face of so much heartache, but the truth is I cry all the time when I'm alone.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I was just playing the game and wanted to come up with a different answer than the standard SW2B.

If you're feeling mommy-stress, I do guarantee that it gets better. *hugs*
