Romney: welfare moms should have "dignity of work"
Re: Romney: welfare moms should have "dignity of work"
I think extending childcare options is great. I think that parenting is still work. I think Romney's outrage at Rosen is disinegenous at best. I'm not outraged so much as rolling my eyes that he's again just saying whatever's politically expedient at this moment.
Plus, I think there's still that hint of underlying inability to express his thoughts well when trying to relate to anyone not uber-rich. That "dignity of work" when his wife doesn't just comes across as condescension IMO. But, I'll admit, that's all I can really hear from him now when initially I simply disagreed with his views.
I would take it up with the Dems on this one. Yes, ROmney is running with this, but are you that surprised? THe Dems are dropping her like a hot potato as they see it as bad. I would say the Dems are just as guilty of making Rosen look anti-woman.
The point of all this is that Romney is a hypocrite. You can't get outraged at someone suggesting that being a SAHM isn't a real job and isn't real work while you yourself have made statements that support this very idea.
That said, it's so clear that this entire pouncing on this comment is nothing more than a way to deflect from the GOP's atrocious treatment and lack of respect for women. I honestly don't think anyone genuinely gives a crap about what Rosen said. It's nothing more than a golden opportunity to distract the easily distractible and gullible American public.
