Summer Plans

What does everyone have planned for the summer?

T has AT the first part of June.  Sophia turns 1 at the end of June, the next day we have a wedding and the day after that is her birthday party.   I don't think we have anything planned for July so maybe we'll do some beach trips and a Phillies game or two.  I'm going to NYC in August for BlogHer.  Labor Day weekend Bruce Springsteen is playing Citizens Bank Park and I really want to get tickets.  We also have a luau fundraiser to go to which is always a lot of fun (local girls, you should come with us).

Re: Summer Plans

  • H will be deployed and when he returns we moved. (just got orders!!) So summer will be visiting his family in Chattanooga, visiting my family in California, getting sh*t organized for the move (we move RIGHT when he returns from deployment), and figuring out how to find renters O.o
  • We are going to Mexico with DH's sponsor family from USAFA in May.

We are going to Colorado in June for my brother's wedding and my high school reunion.

    After that... idk.

I was offered a chance to apply to start grad school early and do an internship starting July 8, so if they accept my MA level work to put me in the accelerated track, I suppose I will be going to do that, if not I will just wore and save as much money as I can before I move for sure in August.

DH will be going to jump school and SERE sometime this summer, but he hasn't figured out the specific dates yet.

Also, I will be celebrating my last birthday for awhile, because I'm turning 29. Then I think I will just keep turning 29 for awhile after that.

  • Oh joy... SERE... What a great way to spend his summer... hah

  • Having babies. Party!!!  I'm guessing what feels like house arrest will be subsequent to having babies.
    Twin boys due 7/25/12
  • We're moving to New Jersey this summer and hopefully setting up our house while exploring.  We've lived in Wyoming for way too long, and while I think it's okay most of the time, it'll be nice to be next to fun things to do.
  • M graduates from his course in June and we PCS in July. We're hoping to make a long weekend trip to DC over Memorial Day but other than that, we're just prepping for the move and figuring the rest of our summer plans out at a later date.

It really does...try to fight it as much as possible even if it's just to go to Target to walk around for 30 minutes. (Says the woman with 1 child, I know, I know.)

  • Our families may visit in May or June.

Claire will be turning 1 and we're planning to have a BBQ with friends on the Fourth of July to celebrate since everyone's work schedule is so weird and that will allow for the most people to join us (I think).  I was resisting a Fourth of July theme but I'm trying to embrace it now.  Nothing I do will measure up to Pinterest so I need to just chill out.  Wink

We'll be heading home for a friend's wedding at the beginning of Aug.  Claire will be a flower girl!  It should be cute.  We also want to hit up a Twins game since R's never been to the new stadium.

I'd love to get in a long weekend in Ocean City but I have no clue where to start with planning that.  I'm also planning on busy weekends (Baltimore aquarium, touring DC, Philadelphia zoo, the beach) since we were so cooped up last summer.

I don't want to be on MSNBC, yo.
  • My youngest sister graduates from college in May, and we'll be throwing a party for her.

My middle sister is getting married in June.

Other than that, I don't have any plans yet.  DH will be gone until the end of the year, so I'll be working on a lot of care packages.  I also want to an OpLove session of R and me this summer.  So I'll either go to San Antonio or Corpus Christi for that.

  • H comes home, trip to Georgia, the OCS boards, if I get selected I'm quitting my job to get as much H time as possible, our birthdays are at the end of summer, and we haven't spent his birthday together since the first year we were together, and we've only been together one of mine, so we're hopeful that we can hit our honeymoon near or before our birthdays. Oh, and my ten year reunion maybe.
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

And this trip to Colorado will fall around the time of my wedding so you'll be able to come to that too? Right, right? Ha ha

My plans are pretty well known! We have the wedding or course, maybe a family reunion in August if I can travel, then the baby in September. We might take a family vacation some time in there as well just for one last trip as 3 instead of 4, but we'll have to see about that one.

  • H won't be home til the end of summer so no big plans really.  I have my mom and some family friends coming next week for a girls weekend.  I'm going home in May for 2 weeks and have a wedding while I'm there.  Then maybe some family and friends visiting in July.

Our late summer and Fall are busier.  H will be home, we have a wedding in August at home we probably can't make, then one there in September too.  Then a wedding in Cali in Oct. that H is in, and another one in Florida in November.  Don't know which ones we'll make it too.

Oh and TTC in there too.

Do you have family in the area or anyone that could take care of things if problems come up?  If not I would probably go through a rental agency.  My friend in Lake Stevens was going to go through one then had a family member say he would take care of anything for her so they just did it on their own.  I would definitely list it on Craigslist and AHRN though because with that ship moving over from Bremerton there are a lot of families moving.

At least it isn't in the winter. :) No chance of freezing to death.

  • H is deploying again. I am signed up for 3 classes. So really just hanging out here. Might go to NYC a few times to catch a show. But other than that... IDK. Get a job?

We might to to Florida to see some good friends and chill on Pensacola Beach in May. Get this semester behind us. :)

Our nephew is graduating from high school in the Spring, we're spending a week or two in Utah in either June or July, and then a huge family reunion in California in August. Beyond that, just fun with my boys and H.

  • I'm hoping to go to Savannah at some point.  On the 4th of July we always go to one of the big lakes around Lake Oconee with DH's cousin and her IL's.  They have a boat and we watch a huge fireworks show on the lake.  That's about it.  Except we are trying to go back to Cincy in May or June for a few days.

Double agree. H went in Jan and was extra miserable.

  • H will be gone and hopefully I'll be working a new job. If not I'll be unemployed and traveling.

We have a wedding in PA in May. That is all that is on my radar right now. I am hoping to go camping over 4th of July but it falls on a Wes this year.

Oh I'm also inviting myself to Beach's this summer. :D

I'll be here nearly all summer.

DH is in TX now and then deploys right after for the last half of their deployment.  This will be #13.  I think he deserves the brake.

I will be taking the kids on several camping trips over the summer.  Most of them will be right around this area.  We will also hit the beach a good bit.  When H get's back, we are heading to the mountains for a week.  We are also looking into buying another house.  We'll find a renter for our current house.  We've found an amazing forclosure that we love.  We just don't want to do anything until after deployment.

  • I'm going home to watch my sister graduauate from high school.

My family is coming to visit us in July.

H is running in the Air Force Marathon, and I may go home to watch him him since it takes place back home. I'm considering doing the half, but not sure yet.

Hey Beachy!  I do have a TON of family here, so between them and all my friends, they all said they will randomly swing by to make sure the house isn't being destroyed. My aunt is very reliable as well so I'm sure she will be more than happy to help us should something arise. I'm more concerned at just FINDING renters. We're hoping to find military so that they can hold us accountable and vice versa. We will probably post it on militarybyowner.com in hopes that we snag military!.. But we'll definitely have to post on Craiglist and things... I hadn't heard of AHRN so thank you for the tip!

It's the only stressful part about this move... I'm so excited to start house hunting at the new station :)

Brandie- ahha for sure... H did his SERE down in San Diego in fall so he had it already. When he did Advanced SERE, all the students were required to BRIDE the person with a nice bottle of tequila.. No joke. She sent a mass e-mail saying that the class is completely full and she will have to turn away people at random so she HIGHLY RECOMMENDS each student to bring a bottle... I seriously don't understand how she doesn't get in trouble for that crap.

no freezing to death, but I am sure a southern SERE in the hot summer has its own pleasures. lol. DH is hoping to go while the berries are blooming. Do berries bloom? While they are fruiting perhaps?

  • We are stuck here for the most part. We plan on moving into something smaller. We also have an assembly to go to in July in Mobile. I think that is it. Oh man my summer is going to suck!

Equally uncomfortable I'm sure. I would much rather be cold because you can add, whereas hot you can only take off so much. H was really sore from shivering so much.

  • H will be gone, but only to Singapore.  I wasn't going to go b/c I was hopefully going to be gainfully employed, but eff it, that's not likely to happen soon.  I'll go to Sing and space a travel like I'd originally planned, back when it was a Sep/Oct/Jan//Feb/Mar departure (it's changed a lot!)

  • Um. Work? I'm going to see a Red Sox game in Philly in a month, DH turns the big 3-0 in July(it's not really big, I just like to tease him b/c he's a baby about it) and my family is coming out the end July. Dh said he's pretty much booked from now until the mid August with exercises at work. I want to plan a trip back to Chicago. I miss my peeps. Nothing else exciting really.
