A bit off topic, but could someone explain to (childless) me the appeal of cloth diapers? Have you ever done this?

Granted I am also childless and therefore only know the concept of cloth vs. disposables, but reading threads like this just make my inner hippie cry.  It's just creating so much waste that will never decompose and wrapping it in more waste that will never decompose.

I don't want to sound like I think cloth is the only way.  I think it's like breastfeeding -- it works for some and not for others.

Sorry - I am an evil, Republican, capitalist, and these things truly befuddle me. To each his/her own, though.

  • We have the Diaper Genie and it's convenient. We haven't had to empty it yet so I'll let you know if my senses are assaulted when we do. It's also good to know that the refills don't get wasted.

I was the same way with simple decisions. Read the Baby Bargains book, did research, asked friends, and still would put something on the registry only to change it several times.

But so far the Swaddle Me blankets and the Pack n Play Newborn Napper are my best friends.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • We're getting this one:  http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=4393307

Mind you we're doing cloth diapers which will go in a different pail but this is for the disposable liners and wipes.  I like it because it's a big garbage bag instead of individually wrapping each thing I throw in, which I think is a pretty big waste. (although it sounds like the one you're looking at might be different)..

I'm not really sure what being a capitalist or Republican has to do with wanting to create giant piles of everlasting garbage.
