Do you regret your wedding dress choice? (POLL)

Re: Do you regret your wedding dress choice? (POLL)

  • I don't regret my wedding dress choice, but I wasn't IN LOVE with my dress either.  I knew exactly what I wanted...but couldn't find it.  I had a destination wedding and all the traditional wedding dresses weren't exactly what I wanted.  I ended up with a beautiful dress that I liked, but it certainly wasn't the dress of my dreams.  I wish I could have designed it myself!
  • I did (do) love my dress but I regretted not going with my first choice, the dress I lusted after for months.  Some "people" talked me out of it, saying it was too pink, non-traditional, blah, blah, blah.  Plus I was being pressured to buy from my friend's family's bridal boutique - they did give me a fantastic deal on all my bridal wear though.

If I could do it all over again (got married over 5 yrs ago), I would pick a totally different dress.

  • I was so stuck on a fitted lace dress at the time and I looked better in A Line. I have a 2nd time to get it right and try again  :) I won't spend as much either having been married now and knowing how quick the day really goes.

But I tell my SO that we can have a small, maybe destination wedding...but I get a fab dress re do and awesome photos

  • I absolutely loved and still love my dress!  It was an A-Line that had everything that I wanted, except the fact that it was an A-Line.  I had it altered into a mermaid, and it came out beautifully.

  • I liked the dress but in retrospect (5 years later), I think it was stupid to spend over $4K on a gown.  I was able to sell it after the wedding and recoup some of the cost, though.
Beautiful baby girl born at 34 weeks due to vasa previa.   Finally home after 15 day NICU stay!
  •  I loved it then and I still love it now!! I do, however, regret my choice of hair and makeup artist...she kinda did a crappy job, haha.

There was a dress that I saw in a Niemans  or Saks catalog like RIGHT after we got engaged that I regret at least not trying on, but I'm pretty sure it would have been WAY out of my budget, and thus the one I ultimately chose was still pretty perfect for me.
  • I still think it's heaven. It's Melissa Sweet's Fern, and I had the dress customized (cap sleeves) and the veil lengthened.  Like a PP, I picked up my dress 2 weeks before, was superstressed, and lost a bunch of weight, so my dress was rather loose the day of.

We did formal portraits 3 months later, when I had filled out a bit more, and it fit much better then!

  • I was the absolute QUEEN of dress indecision and second-guessing.  I had been engaged once before and went apeshit on wedding dresses that time, wanting to wear a second dress for the reception and buying a selling several (inexpensive) gowns.  When I got engaged to my husband, I wanted a mermaid or fit-and-flare to show off my curvy figure, but wound up buying a ballgown with an extreme dropped waist.  It was unique, more flattering than the more fitted shapes, and made me feel like Grace Kelly.  My only regret is that I didn't even consider a second dress for the reception this time around, and when I was dancing up a storm, it would have been nice to have something a little smaller and lighter to slip into.  I was so hot!

  • My wedding was only 6 months ago, so not much time has gone by. But I made my own dress, so I designed and chose everything that went into it, and I love how it turned out. I did also try on dresses before making it, so I got to see how the silhouettes would look, and I think A-line was the right choice for me.

  • Got married 6.5 years ago and I'm still in love with my dress. It was on sale, I have no idea who the designer was, and I've never seen a picture of it anywhere else.

The consultant picked it as almost an afterthought, because it was on sale. He took it off the rack and I knew it was the one. Sounds SO cheesy and I've never thought that before or since about *anything* , but that's the truth :)  It was the third dress I tried on. My only regret is not trying on more dresses for fun, but I'm sure I'd have still made the same choice.
