see post below about testing.
Friend posted on FB about being a cheerleader this morning. I'm holding my tongue because I know she thought she was doing something good, but seriously I've always done well on standardized tests and the thought of having cheerleaders greeting the students and a pep rally yesterday make me anxious for the state test and I'm not taking them and neither are my kids.
Someone else posted that she and a few women are going help the broken women who work in strip clubs by painting their toe nails to show them they are loved. How about putting an end to human trafficking, instead? Making sure no man in your life goes to strip clubs and solicits sex from prostitutes?
Re: I'm in a surly mood and want to fight :-)
I feel like I'm missing a backstory on this.
Today is the start of our state testing. There were cheerleaders at the school this morning cheering the kids to do well on the test and yesterday there was a pep rally to get the kids pumped up for the test.

What????
I'm still not understanding your opposition to this.
Doesn't that distract the cheerleaders who are also taking the tests?
I think all this rah rah stresses the kids out. It stress me out. They would be better off not making such a big deal about the test.

Me either.
I thought they were already painted up whores?

This is one of my favorite commericals in the history of ever.
Really? If anybody started cheering at me before my second cup of coffee, I think I'd throw my alarm clock at her.
My mom used to wake me up in high school with this ridiculously perky voice: "Happy Tuesday! Time to get up!" I am pretty sure I called her horrible names.
::blinks::
What? And the strippers are cool with this? Aren't their nails painted already? And um wait, strippers aren't strangers to primping themselves. How could this help? I just don't understand.
My Blog
it is going to show that they are "loved"

Heeeeee!! Babycopz is a sucky morning person. I like to go into her room and rub her head and sing a song and call her Tulip or Daisy!
So did they clear it with the club, first? Are the strippers going to show up to work half an hour early for this? Or do it during their breaks? At my local strip club the female restroom = the stripper's locker room. You should volunteer to come with them because I am so curious about how this is all going to go down.

babycops deserves a medal for not having killed you.
I think it is highly possible I will be the first and only mother asked to pick up her Freshman daughter at college because of "incompatibility issues". She can do a Exorcist head spin in the morning.
Bridey, I need all the motivation I can get.
Im having a hard time imagining the stripper thing too. I am envisioning a stripper doing her thing on stage while a woman sits at the foot of the stage holding a bottle of nail polish, ready to paint a toenail anytime the stripper gets near her. But I don't think that's what Helper is describing.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DI was thinking the same thing. They are usually freshly shaven and a new coat of polish, if not an entire new set of acrylics.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's one thing strippers don't need help with - pedicures. All cosmotology-type stuff? Not hard to get when you're a stripper.
Same and same.
I wouldn't get worked up about the cheerleading, just roll my eyes, though.

The cheerleaders would've annoyed me. Before tests I need a bubble and that would've been really distracting for me. They're not really taking into account different styles.
I have a friend who you cannot make physical contact with to wake her up. If you touch her while she's sleeping she will hit you. Hard. (Ask me how I know.) She warned her roomates and managed to make it through college. Babycopz will be ok.
You ARE looking for something to fight about. This is a non issue. I do not see the cheerleaders as adding stress , but rather as encouragement. Do the football , basketball etc. teams see the cheerleaders as adding stress??? No. they are there to add support to their efforts.
I think YOU are the one worried about the test results - not the kids.
The stripper thing is really weird. Do they know these women are coming to paint their nails? How was the reason why explained to them? Bc it's pretty insulting and I can't imagine why they'd go along with being condescended to like that.
On the one hand, it's kind of like getting a free pedicure and who doesn't like free stuff right? But on the other, you have to wonder *why* you are getting this free pedicure and I can't see why they'd like the answer very much.
Were they dressed like this?
Strippers at school taking standarized tests while cheerleaders give pedicures?
So confused.
My Mom used to come in, turn on the overhead light, and sing, "Good morning, Katie Sunshine, it's nice to see you today, get out of bed, you sleepyhead, it's time to start the day." Then she would strip the top of the bed, forcing me into the bright cold.
Marisa likes mornings, but Natalie does not. I can't wait to torture her in the exact same way.
In regard to the OP, I see no problem with the pep rally. I also can't see how participation in said pep rally would hurt the cheerleaders testing. It's not a test they study for, and a pep rally isn't a marathon.
