I haven't been to Fosters Hollywood yet, but DH has.  He did say they were pretty good...which is good since the mall is 2 blocks away and it has a Fosters.

I DO like the fake stuff.  DH likes the pure maple syrup, which I can find here.  I imported a microwavable bottle of the fake stuff when I was home in Februrary...love it.

The Foster's burgers are the closest thing to home. I love their teriyaki burger.

As for liking fake syrup, you're breaking my heart. My family has made syrup since I was a kid. It's expensive stuff, but it's worth it!

  • I also miss Mexican food, especially homemade tortillas. I would also love a box of Cheez-It's, lol.

<p> I live in the land of corn, so popcorn is plentiful here. But they don't make it with that liquid fake butter (which is a-okay with me).

  • Chili fries are nasty! I prefer pizza here though, but mexican food is something I miss.

  • I'm wicked lucky, we have a Mexican restaurant just down the road and kitty-corner from that restaurant we have a Tex-Mex place.

The Mexican restaurant is like having a meal at a Mexican family's house. It can't get any more authentic. Sure, it's wicked expensive but it sure was worth it! Poor DH couldn't deal with the spices though.

  • When my sister and I came back from Europe I missed plentiful drinks (refills).  Maybe it was all the walking we were doing but I was always so thirsty when we would stop to eat and the waiters seemed so stingy about refilling my water.

My sister was craving BBQ and green bean casserole when we came back. I have no idea why.  But we made sure to get her some as soon as we got back :)

  • Well, as I live in Mexico I do not miss Mexican food I have it every day of my life. I could go for some good bagels. They have cream cheese slices here like American cheese. The pizza is TERRIBLE they pretty much only have it with pineapple and ham. Without sauce. You have to put ketchup and hot sauce on it. It sells very well. The most popular pizza place is barely warm, dry, cheeseless, sauceless. But you have an unlimited supply of ketchup and valentina. The hamburgers I don't know I'm vegetarian. They all have lots of cheese, chiles, and hotdogs on them though. The kids love them. I am a die hard root beer fan though. I miss it a lot. Pop with ice and a straw I miss also. We have choc chips here. I bought some today. Its about $4 for 1 kilo. Not too bad. Regular rice krispies. They only have coco krispies. The popcorn is the same. We have pancake syrup also.

  • I agree with Mexican food, bagels, and proper burgers. We haven't had a problem finding ketchup, I don't drink a ton of root beer anyway, and I can live without Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Missing from the list for me is proper butter and milk. I don't think the butter I've bought is really butter, I think it's some sort of butter/margarine mix. It definitely doesn't melt like butter. And milk. FFS, the milk here is awful.

ETA: And cheese. Sharp cheddar cheese. One of the import grocery stores has something that is pretty close, but it's hella expensive.
