So, I was at Grocery Outlet (which has all kind of cool stuff)... and they had this:

    image

Now, not only is it a freaking Ice Cream Cake with actual for real Girl Scout Thin Mints in it, it's from Friendly's.  I grew up with Friendly's (actually, only a couple miles from their corporate HQ), and they don't exist out here. I haven't had anything Friendly's for years.

You have just sent me into a depression over how much I miss Friendly's.  I also grew up with Friendly's, and there isn't one near me now.  Thankfully, there are still some by my parents.

    Best ice cream.

  • Mesh, I weep that there is no Dunkin' near you because their coffee is amazeballs.

And if any of you disagree with that statement, get out of this thread NOW.

I loved friendlys. I used to work at the one at the Holyoke Mall...

  • Has anyone else been to Cook Out Burger?  I think it may just be a western NC thing. So delicious!

And they have 30+ milkshake flavors, I lived on Chocolate Caramel shakes when I had mono in grad school.

Damn all of you.  I'm craving a Dunkin chocolate frosted donut so bad now.  We only have Shipley's here (those are good, too, though).  Must not give into temptation.

I have been underwhelmed by Dunkin's coffee.  The last time I got it was when I still put sugar in my coffee.  But I found that once they added cream & sugar, it was way too sweet.  If there were one near me, I'd try it again without sugar.  But again, I'd have to leave my neighborhood to get to a DD.  Too lazy.

Moxie, I don't think I know what Jack in the Box is. *runs to Google* Maybe everyone in this country is right, New Yorkers aren't real Americans if we don't know what this stuff is.

It could be worse. I get commercials for a bunch of places that aren't within 50 miles of where I live. Sonics, CeCe's, Dunking Donuts, Dairy Queen, Applebees on my tv but no where local (Mostly the Dunking Donuts and Dairy Queen peeve me). And I'd never heard of Cracker Barrel or Chick Fil A before the nest.

    Its Dunkin Donuts.

Dunkies if your collar is blue

Can I call it Dunkies if I have no collar and think it's adorable?

    Yes!

Oh I have.  I LOVE that place.  Have you had the chocolate pecan pie?  It's ah-maz-ing.

Also the owner lets people bring their dogs inside and she gives them clumps of pulled pork to snack on.  Maddie loves that place more than I do.

    Cue dog wars.

Who can blame Maddie? Dude, I would love a place that gave me pulled pork to snack on. And now I need chocolate pecan pie.

We have them in eastern NC. I love the small burger, and I wish more places offered small burgers.

LOL, this is very P&CE unpopular, but I even like the Bible verses on the bags and cups.

     lurker butting in.

I've been to a few in Charlotte. It's so cheap, it's hard to pass up. Food not the greatest, but those milkshakes...

  • So I've pre-emptively rewarded/bribed myself for not eating anything bad today by signing up for a massage tonight.   Yay!  Now I can't buy crappy food or I'll feel like a total ass.

I thought this sentence was going to end with "legally blow your mortgage broker."  Which would also be true.

  • Heh. I've never been to a Chick Fil A either.

Or a Sonic, Red Robin, Carls, White Castle, Popeyes, In n Out, Hardees, Outback, TGI Fridays, Cracker Barrel, Chilis, etc etc. Or....what's that other one that always advertises but there isn't one in the Northeast. It has a groady chocolate fountain? ::shudders::

    image
  • Oh and everyone knows Dunkies coffee is terrible. You don't go there because you like coffee.

You go because there are 8 on your way to work (you can see the next one from the last one's front step). You go because you're pregnant and you want a glazed cruller (Embarrassed). You go because everyone you know, from your boss to your ma to your cousin Fitzie, everyone goes to Dunkies.

Country Buffet - no loss there.

But, DAMN!  You need to get out more!

That would be Golden Corral. Which I also get comercials for but I don't think there's one on this coast.

Yes! That's it. I think Major has been there, lol. She is my insider on all things flyover-country.

And lol @ Mrs A. That was the list of places I've never been! The list of places I've not been in the last 10 years includes such establishments as Burger King, Olive Garden, Applebees, and so on. I've only been to McDonalds twice and that was for coffee.

  • I don't eat at CFA bc of their politics but this baby loves milkshakes so I have made an exception for the past 9 months haha.  Now I want a milkshake.  Maybe I will go to Wawa for lunch tomorrow (bc why not) and then Sonic for dessert for a root beer float.  Except Wawa has milkshakes,  oh the possibilities.

DD has good coffee but their donuts are bleh.  I still eat them (again, bc why not) but I'd rather have a good old fashioned chocolate glazed doughnut any day of the week.

H won't be home for another half hour,  I'm going to have some ice cream.

  • White Castle scares me.  I've seen them, but never been there.  I'm proud of myself for at least having heard of all of these.  That's one positive to moving often.
  • I looked forward to visiting my grandparents as a kid because they lived across from a White Castle and so they filled us up with those cute little WC burgers. Apparently I was the only person on Earth immune from the belly-bombing capabilities of those burgers.
