Atlanta is 10th on the list, I thought it would be waaay higher. Not that I fly that much anymore but I always try and avoid that airport like the plague.

I'm sorry but Philedelphia and US Scare are the worst of the worst. Aging infastructure is one thing, but Philly is a death star of bad.
And ATL sees the most traffic in the country; I think it does a fair job. But damn you, Philedelphia!!!
LOL I second both of those. I got a photo of the Larry Craig bathroom, which the employees are more than happy to point out!

People are always going to find something to gripe about when it comes to the busiest airports. Although I do love Detroit's airport; that's the nicest big U.S. airport I've been in.
But there's still no excuse for LGA being the shiithole that it is.

The amenities at LGA did suck unless it was the newer Delta terminal. lol. Also, who the hell complains about location of JFK? It was great to use the subway to get there. So much faster than getting there by car.
Also, I wasn't too impressed with CLT. I did like SFO but I was pissed when the stupid idiot who was guarding the lane towards security insisted my carry on luggage wouldn't fit and I had to check it in. Never mind that I flew two days before with the luggage as a carry on. I'm still mad about that, especially since he was some idiot TSA and not even an airline employee.
ETA: I haven't been to MIA in a few years but it sucked donkey balls during the massive renovation process. It was a super slow airport compared to those on the worst list.
I always brag about having 5 international airports within a 1.5 hour radius. Too bad four of them are in the top 5 worst!
I don't get some of the "best" airports (namely MCO- hate it!), but I also don't think some of the worst ones are all that bad either.
Philly is the worst. THE WORST.
The trick to LAX is to fly United and have status--it's an end terminal (easy to drive to) and with status you get a separate security line. Also to use this amazing off airport valet service (you pick up a guy, he gets in your car, then you drive to your terminal and he takes the car from there--amazing!)

Really??? It's right off the NJ Turnpike - can't miss it. I prefer Newark over the other airports here, but mostly because it's much closer to where we live and we get miles with United.
I've never experienced unusually long security lines at any NYC airport, but I bet it's because we don't fly during holiday periods.

Edit: now that I've read the best list, I'm suprised PIT wasn't on it. IMO it's an awesome airport.
Dulles rightly deserves it's spot on the worst list. That place is a mess.
So basically this is a list of the top largest airports.
shrug. Big airports are going to have bigger crowds than dinky B-level city airports do. It is what it is.
I happen to like Logan a lot. I think it is easy to get in and out of, and I rarely, if ever, wait on big lines.
SFO is in the best list. I wouldn't call that a B-level city.

I loathe McCarran in Vegas. It smells like smoke, and it seems to be exclusively populated by hungover d-bags and old people who hold up the security line for hours. I wouldn't put it on my top ten list by a mile.
I don't mind Philly, Dulles, or Boston. Philly at least has decent food and shopping once you're in the terminal. Atlanta should be higher up IMO--also a shithole and it seems like it's always under construction. But, I never really fly into the NY/NJ airports, so I don't know how bad they are.
I would probably put Midway on the 10 Best list just because they have Potbelly's and Ben & Jerry's next door to one another in my usual terminal. #teamfatasstwo years!

i don't live in the area, but i have family nearby. none of us can get there efficiently. ha.
also, newark smells like feet.
pretty much all airports are disgusto germfests with gross food, so being the "best" and the "worst" isn't exactly the difference between a 5-star hotel and a rickety hostel.
Philly is my home airport and the baggage waiting issue is no friggin joke. I've never been anywhere that has worse baggage handling and wait times then Philly.
I also used to live in Orlando and I loved MCO. Getting in and out is like driving in a maze but I always thought it was clean, easy to navigate, quick security and baggage.
That's not just Newark, that's Jersey as a whole.

I actually don't think Newark is that bad. It's clean, it's not enormous, and while the layout leaves something to be desired, it's not terrible. It's pretty easy to get to Manhattan from there on public transportation (unlike LGA). Fun fact: Newark is actually closer to Manhattan than either LGA or JFK.
I also don't think ATL is that bad, except for the fact that there are no moving sidewalks in the terminals so if you're at gate, say, D1, you have to walk a LONG way to get there (which sucks if you have to make a connection, and if you're flying into ATL, you probably do).
LGA is awful, but I can't help but have a kind of affection for it. It's just so New York.

Maybe I've just learned to go there at the off-peak times, but I would just call it busy, not bad.
I actually have more issues flying out of White Plains (small regional in NY) when I go home to see my parents. It has completely outgrown itself, and the people there are total morons. I have gotten there a couple hours in advance several times and still missed my flights.
St. Louis was also no bargain.
does o'hare still have the plastic toilet seat covers that revolve when you open the bathroom door? those things freaked me the eff out. and i would NEVER take an afternoon connection through o'hare in the summer. i was all but guaranteed a thunderstorm and weather delays.
i will agree that LGA is kind of awful. but, the rest are just big airports. when you go in/out of them often you learn your little tricks and make it easier on yourself. the only thing i hate about dulles is getting all the way the heck out there (and when i forget about morning rush and think its a good idea to take the red eye home).
