I read this article, and all I could think was, "god, that's ugly. I can't imagine paying a K for that ugliness."
Ann Romney's $990 shirt - worth it?

Like the shirt that Ann Romney was wearing on Tuesday? It?ll cost you a pretty penny.
The bird print top, made by Reed Krakoff costs $990, a saleswoman at the designer?s store in Manhattan told Styleite. The piece is part of the Krakoff?s spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection. A publicist for the line told ABC News that they ?had nothing to do with? Romney wearing the item. ?She must have bought it from Saks or Bergdorf?s, we definitely didn?t send it to her,? she said.
Romney wore the shirt (but not the matching pants made to go with it) during an appearance on ?CBS This Morning? with her husband, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Who cares? Not Bill Burton, former deputy press secretary under Obama, who defended Romney on ?The Bill Press Show? on Tuesday.
?I?m of the view that Ann Romney should be off-limits,? Burton said. ??I remember in 2007 and 2008 when people would go after Mrs. Obama. I was enraged about it. Because you never know if they even signed up for this willingly. They may just be supportive and along for the ride.?
The Romney campaign didn?t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Re: Ann Romney's $990 shirt. Ugly? Poll
a "better" photo of the shirt:
I am the 99%.
Better view:
For 1K that shirt better be autographed by Elvis and can be worn by roaches after a nuclear bomb.
Jinx, Mona.
And I wouldn't pay a dime for it at a yard sale.
Is that a fish on the front? Are those see-through sleeves? I am no fashion maven, but I can't even imagine thinking in my head "let's put a fish on the front! And makes the sleeves see-though! And charge $900! It will FLY off the shelves!".
Team ugly. Normally I hate criticizing a candidate's wife on her fashion sense (who cares?), but you wear something like this (that costs that much) and you practically beg for it.
ETA: I guess it's a seagull? Which is just as bad.

that is a fugly shirt, but I'm not going to go after her for bad taste, but I do think the optics look bad.
A shirt like that is obviously a statement piece that fashionistas will probably recognize and know exactly how much it costs. She and her husband are already perceived as out of touch with americans. Heck I'm Obama rich and I don't spend $1k a season on clothes, nevermind 1 shirt.
She should probably stick to classic pieces that people can't easily identify as being ridiculously expensive, since most americans don't spend $1k/yr on clothes never mind for 1 shirt

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Romney needs to get himself some quality image advisors. I don't know what his current people are telling him and Mrs. Romney but they suck. I don't care that the shirt is ugly, I care that it is distracting. So unless their strategy was "have Ann where this crazy shirt and it won't matter what she says", they're failing.
Is that a fish or a bird?
Definitely fug.
I think those were cute. I'd wear them.
I wouldn't buy them for 500 bucks... but I'd wear them.
But, then again, my mother used to wear Arpege, and I've always always had a soft spot for Lanvin.
I am the 99%.
Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
For a fraction of the cost of that T-shirt
I don't think that shirt is worth $1k. Nor do I think she can pull off that look. It would be probably one of the last items I'd pick for a woman in her position.
She can hire me, I'll dress the fool outta her.

I gotta be honest, once I hit the lottery I am putting you and eclaires on exclusive retainer.
she wore those out? ew
Yeah, definite ew. I dont even care that they cost $500 for a shoe that probably cost a mere fraction, but fug. And now I feel icky talking about these women and their fashion.
Meh. I think it's a shirt some someone younger than her. But whatever. If large scale birds speak to her... I guess I don't care much what she wears.
However, I think she could have found a cheaper version at one of those hippie booths that sells clothes and jewelry at music festivals and such.
I am the 99%.
It's hideous and clashes with her sensible harcut. She's too old for it.
Updated September 2012.
I am convinced her youngest MADE her outfit and shoes that day.
Any person considering running for president who did it despite their spouse not being 100% gung ho for it is an arse. Because it would ruin your life forever after, and your kids lives too.
But, they're so rich, why hasn't she hired herself a stylist? When I go back to work, the first $100 a week are going to a cleaner, the second $100 to a chef and the third hundred to a stylist.
