My take after using it for a month is that I can use it in place of my foundation products.  I use it instead of primer/foundation/concealer/powder.  I really like it and love how it looks on my skin.

Interesting.....  Any brand recommendations available at Target or Ulta?

What kind of moisturizer do you use? I have very dry skin, and I wash only once a day (at the end to remove makeup)  with this:

    image

and moisturize twice a day with this:

    http://www.olay.com/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=075609000980&productline=Complete (the sensitive, gentle formula)

that seems to make the most difference with dryness than any makeups ever do.

I use Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture right now because my skin is so dry.  It works well.

    PICK ME PICK ME!!!

i'll pick all of you guys.  i don't mind.  i get 30% off (i think i pay for shipping, though, unless i go to the store).  i can just ship it out to you guys.  i really don't mind.  i pay $35/year for the discount so i like to get my money's worth.

    I am interested. :)

  • oh, and shipping to you guys would be free because i hate my company and i know how to process UPS shipments.

I think Target carries the Garnier stuff.  I've been told that what's available here is not the same as the Asian ones, even though they share the same name.  I think Ulta carries Smashbox, and they have one, too.

I ordered mine from Amazon and used this seller (she sells the legit stuff):

    http://www.amazon.com/SKIN79-Triple-Function-Autheticity-Perforations/dp/B004R5E12M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1336063864&sr=8-2

That's the one I have - my skin is kind of combination.  Gold bottle is better for dry, from my understanding.

question about MAC: My mom bought me foundation (Studio Tech) for my birthday. Do I need a pressed powder to set it?

What is the difference with the pro stuff?  Good grief, I seriously feel like I need a P&CE makeup lesson-how to apply and all.

  • i have to wait about 2 weeks for it though, because i'm an idiot and i let it lapse and MAC sucks at processing.  once i get the confirmation email from them i'll post and let you know.

    Seventh Anniversary

First and foremost, I have a very good skin care routine.  I use CeraVe cleanser and moisturizer.  I have extremely dry skin and find that in some spots I even have to use Aveeno Eczema lotion for babies.

    My absolute make-up must haves:

    1. Concealer
    2. Mineral powder
    3. powder blush
    4. mascara
    5. Kiehl's lip balm

Studio Tech? That is the powder foundation right? I don't believe so. I use the Studio Sculpt, and it is a creamy foundation. So I set mine.

they have a "pro" line that's higher pigments.  i can buy those or any regular products.

here's a website with some pro information:  http://www.maccosmetics.com/macpro/cms/proproducts/index.tmpl

you can peruse the regular website and just keep the 30% off in mind when figuring out the prices

  • MACPro just offers some other colors in e/s, blush, etc. and I think some extended products that are used more for professional makeup artistry.  I just know there are a few e/s I love that are Pro.  I can get them in Nashville, but it's kind of a pain.

Studio Tech? That is the powder foundation right? I don't believe so. I use the Studio Sculpt, and it is a creamy foundation. So I set mine.

It is creamy also. From the website: A tri-system blend of water, emollients and powder. Looks solid, glides on as a soft, creamy emulsion. Provides a natural matte, powder-perfect finish. Smooth to blend, easy to work with: provides a full range of coverage. Water-cooled - refreshes and hydrates skin. Light diffusing: softens lines, creates a fresh, flawless finish. Good on all skin types. Studio Tech is dermatologist tested, ophthalmologist tested, non-acnegenic and safe for contact lens wearers.

Is your pressed powder the same number as your foundation?

If you're going with creamy, then I'd get a pressed powder. The blot powder is what I use, that way I don't have foundation on top of foundation. Those colors are something like "Light" "Medium" etc. I use Medium Dark in blot powder. It's versatile and can be applied a lot without looking cakey.

Lauren - I have to restock on foundation sooner than the two weeks, however, I have a huge list of other to-get items that I'd love a discount on. :)

I'd maybe check out a tinted moisturizer if your skin is dryer.

    I use daily:
    Foundation (MAC)
Pressed Powder (to set my foundation) (MAC)
    Eye Shadow Primer (MAC)
Eye Shadow (UD Naked Palette - best investment ever)
Eye Liner (Loreal - liquid linear, or Loreal infallible wind up pencil)
Mascara (Cover girl lash blast - purple tube)
    Blush (most days - NARS)

It's a light application, though it might seem like a lot.  Takes 5-10 min per day.

I am going to pick your brain :)

The original Naked Palette?  Are the shimmery colors okay for day?  I work in a hospital in a very visible position.

    No prob. :)

Hella big picture, but you can see the names:
    image

I have the original one. I think the key is balance and application. If you're going to go shimmery, balance it with Virgin or Naked. Today, I am wearing Sidecar and Hustle. It's not overly shimmery because Sidecar is in my crease and under my brow is Naked. So it balances out.

I love the shimmer of Half Baked, it is more metallic than sparkle, if that makes sense. If I'm doing more of a boho, summery look, it's Half Baked on the lid, Dark Horse in the crease. I did that yesterday. I was wearing a pencil skirt and a denim jacket.

You can also do this eye:

    image

I normally do this with a line of black liquid liner and red lips to not over power my face.  This looks like Naked, Buck, and Virgin.

I use Hustle for cooler smokey eye tones, and Dark Horse for warmer. I also use Dark Horse over pencil liner on my lower lid to make it a bit smudgier.

I have pictures on me too, at least a few if you want to see.
