Same here! I never thought we could afford something new, let alone something we could pick all the finishes on. We are getting a new house for the same price as many of the other existing homes in the area. The best part for us was that everything would be new and just like we liked it. We looked at some many houses that needed work we just were willing to do.

When we first looked at one of the new build homes we looked at one that was mostly finished and I thought we could buy it but when we saw the other floor plans we liked another one so much more. So we really did build from the ground up.

We were thisclose to putting an offer on the same model we're building in the same development that was 2 years old but had never been lived in.  It was even a corner lot and everything.  But it sold the weekend before we were going to put an offer in, and so we jumped at the chance to grab the only empty corner lot left in the development and build that same house since we loved it so much.

Isn't it crazy how things happen. It sits empty for two years and then all of a sudden it sells. Odd but it sounds like it worked out for the best for you. We were very happy to get into this development when we did because there were only 6 lots left in our price range. All the others are for much large homes with walk-out basements.

  • Well, my work week is over and I'm so glad I didn't come home to bad news. I have the next 5 days off, so I'll be here biting my nails instead of at work.
  • Larissa, sounds like we're in similar places! Our closing date is set for June 6th. We've handed in paperwork to the bank, and I expect the appraisal will be ordered this week? We've signed the contracts and are delivering that and the DP check to our attorney tomorrow. Ah!
