Weekend Racers, c'mon in!

2»

Re: Weekend Racers, c'mon in!

  • I'm running a La Carrera de la Mujer, a 7.2k race. (the race was originally 6.5k but they moved the route and the distance increased). It's been raining for literally a week so I'm hoping that it stops for the race on Sunday. My fingers are crossed.

ETA: I just picked up my shirt, bib, etc. In the bag they also included a blister bandaid and a sample of suncreen (makes sense...) and a container of fiber enriched milk, a can of nonalcoholic beer and a bottle of "intimate cleansing gel" (so weird...)

Normally a lurker, but just wanted chime in because I'm running the Nut Job too!  Good luck!

I considered the nut job. Maybe next year. I'm running the Frederick Half. Shooting for a course PR. When I ran 2 years ago, I puked and rallied to a 1:48. 5 years ago I ran a 2:10. As long as I don't puke again I should be golden :) I do plan to have a couple beers or margaritas tomorrow (Caps game and Cinco de Mayo/my anniversary!), so the puking isn't a far off possibilty, hah! The weather looks good (for May), and the 7am start will be nice. DH has different thoughts on the early start though. He is running a half for the first time in 5 years. Yay DH!

    Good luck, ladies!

How is the course? I'm not too familiar with Frederick, so I'm kind of glad to be doing the 5k also to get an idea.

     Thanks!

I enjoy the course. It isn't pancake flat, but it isn't hilly (maybe some minor up and downs). In good weather, it would be a great course to PR on. It is a good mix of downtown Frederick, neighborhoods, and I think I remember passing by a farm towards the end. I was pretty sick by that point, so my memory is blurry, lol. It was the combo of red powerade and heat that did me in. I haven't touched a sports drink since! I liked the finish in the fairgrounds, and there was good crowd turn out/volunteers for a mid sized race.

  • Im running my 2nd race ever (woot!) Sunday, a 10k. Im crazy nervous! Im mostly just freakin a little about the beginning of the race, b/c we are running the 1st leg of a marathon relay...which is also the start for a full & a 1/2 marathon, so there will be TONS of people all starting @ the same time. I don't want to get trampled (haha) or unintentionally get pushed (not literally) to run faster then Im used to/plan on/for my pace...etc...

Anyway DH ran the route today & I picked him up @ the end (yes, that was planned), so we drove home the route we are running Sun, it should be....ok....There are a few hills which Im freaked about, plus the longest I've ever run is just over 5miles, but Im just hoping to cross that finish line running! I don't care what my time is!

    Good Luck everyone!

  • I am also running the Frederick 1/2 on Sunday.. and freaking out. It is my first half and my training was crap the last couple of months due to my allergies. Crying I'm going to sign up for a slow pace group and hope that just by going slow I can get through it. Ugh.
  • Good luck racers!
