I am a newbie to posting here in the nest but I wanted to say hello. Navy wife stationed with her Navy corpsman husband in Oceanside, CA. Though he sacrifices and drives an hour 2 and from work since he works in the Long Beach area. We have been married for 4 years going on 5 years this September and I love him more each day. We bought a condo here and have lived here almost 3 years..wow I can't believe that still.
Anyways hello!
Re: Newbie saying hi
Hi! I'm Mel. I'm in midwifery school and MH is AD AF. We have on son and two dogs.
Things are generally slow here on the weekends, but I'm sure you'll get a lot more welcomes tomorrow
Thank you, meltoine for the welcome. I appreciate that.
Midwifery school? Very interesting. What exactly do you study? I actually never knew that there was a school for midwifery. I just learned something new. :-) And sounds like you have a happy family there with one son and 2 dogs.
My husband and I are struggling to start our own family. :-/ But we wish to have 2 kids, one boy and one girl...of course who knows if that will happen or if we have get 2 girls or 2 boys. :-)
Hi, MH is also a Navy Corpsman. I'm currently living in our hometown while he is deployed. I just started a job as an as-needed respiratory therapist at the local hospital. So far it is looking like it will equate to full time hours because they are so understaffed. I'm also taking courses for an MBA online and am in the process of applying to become a Marine Corps Officer so I guess you could say I keep myself pretty busy while MH is gone.
Welcome and hope you stick around.
Well Sammy my fingers are crossed for you that it does turn into full time hours. Nothing like working to keep your mind off of a deployment. And I also hope that you DO make it as an Officer. That would amazing for you.
And yes I try to keep busy even when he isn't deployed. Drill weekend is this weekend and it's no fun. :-/ But hey now that Camp Pendleton has opened a new exchange closer to us and wow is it crazy but I have been twice for the grand opening and I like the mobs..don't know why but I enjoyed it.
Yea it is quite a drive but like I said he is doing it for me. My side of the family as well as our friends live down in Poway, close to SD so another reason he moved us down here.
We almost took orders out in VA but we originally picked Iowa...those fell through so we got to stay in Cali. We were stationed in Hawai'i before Cali.
By the way totally cute picture of your little one. I love all that hair. I was a bald baby until I was 2 years old lol People thought for the longest time that I was a little boy. And my mom had to tape bows into my hair haha
I just started, but the syllabus basically covers the female reproductive system, conception, pregnancy, all stages of labor, potential labor complications, newborn care, breastfeeding, and well-woman care (pap smears, breast exams, etc).
Good luck with TTC! We are working on #2, also.
Wow that sounds really interesting. You'll have to tell me more about it once you really get into it.
And thanks for the luck..going to start testing this month once I start. Supposed to start next week so all I can do is wait.
And good luck to you on #2
Good luck in all of your classes, Joyce. What classes are you going to be taking? I too am in a class but it is an online class...the only way I can take classes at the moment..and thought now that I have my afternoon frees I can take classes then.
Oh and my real name is Lacey by the way.
And wait until you hit a YEAR of marriage. I sometimes still can't believe that I am married to my H. And I still get those butterflies in my stomach when I talk to him or we go out on a date.
Hi! I'm Afton. DH separated from the Marine Corps 3 years ago this August. He's working full time and going to school to be an electrical engineering. I'm working full time as an optician for now, and planning on applying to programs next year for my teaching credential and masters, so I can teach HS biology.
We have two mini doxies, a boy and a girl. Darcy is in my siggy and Simon is our little boy dog, he's a red and so so cute! We have a cat named Mister, and DH spent a good two hours yesterday trying to convince me we needed another cat. We won't be getting one. No human babies yet, we are waiting until DH has finished school.
Good luck with your TTC journey.
I thought of you this week. The RT at my clinic just resigned and they are looking for another. Too bad your not in MT!
OP, welcome! I'm Jen and my H is AD AF and we reside in beautiful MT currently. 3 dogs & 2 cats. No kids, workimg on that!
The most beautiful place on earth to me: Glacier NP

Welcome to the board! I saw your intro on ML, where I am most of the time, but I figured I'd reply here.
I was AD Army, now I'm a SAHM to a beautiful almost 2 year old girl. DH is still AD Army, but will be ETSing in October. We have an 8 year old rotweiler that is very old mannish and sleeps all day.
We have been together for 8 years, married for 6. I have a BA in Psychology but no plans to go back for my masters because paying for school is a PITA. I used to work as part of a coordinating team helping people with mental and physical disabilities live independently, I may go back down that road after DH gets a job (he works with satellites).
I like to read, mostly classic literature. My favorite author is Hemingway, but my favorite book is Catch 22. I write sometimes, but nothing professional.
This long post is brought to you by boredom and restlessness, LOL.
Welcome!
I am Brandie, H is in the AF. I am currently finishing my bachelors degree. I am an English Major. I find out soon if I am allowed to apply for the accelerated MA program with my school. I would really love finishing my MA before we move. I want to do something in publishing someday. Other than that I am a SAHW with no kids, thank God. We do have the cutest dog that's ever lived, and a crazy cat.
Welcome! I'm Stan, an office manager and an applicant for the same program as Sammy. H is currently deployed and has ten years in the MC.
Are you guys staying long term in Oceanside? That situation (or not being able to commute) is what keeps me from buying! I hope it's working out okay for you guys.
Hi! I'm Beans, DH is AD AF. I am currently a MA level therapist, although I am going back to school in the fall to get my doc in psychology, so thats exciting. I'm also hoping on joining the AF as a psychologist, so we'll see about all of that.
We have a dog William, and just livin' the life!
I changed my name
Do both no one can stop you lol
We are basically long term. We have been in Oceanside going on 3 years and this September my H is going to be going to IDC school down at Balboa so we will be here for ANOTHER year which is fine by me. This is our first time buying too so I am a bit nervous about having to sell the place and all that once he does get new orders but I really like the condo and the area so I am happy we bought.
The women on TTGP aren't happy pet and family people? I rather like them.
No I know that they are happy pet and family people. I just wandered over here to chat with other people too. I like to step into other forums as well. Make new friends by going into other places.
You need to wander over this way more anyway! /gavel
I am here to make friends not talk about something that I posted in another post. All I want is support while struggling with my TTCing. I don't want to have to deal with any one else getting on my case just because I got some information wrong.
This board is very supportive but we also don't sugar coat things. And you're not going to control people bringing up stuff from other posts. It happens all the time. Especially since a few of us are regulars on several other boards. Welcome to TN/TB/TK.
I don't think anyone really jumped down your throat. But I've been active on that board and know the "tone" of it. *shrug*
