We need to replace our carpet in the living room but aren't sure what to replace it with. We'd like to do the tile that looks like wood. However, where there is carpet now, butts up to tile in the kitchen and entry way and in my head tile against tile(even if one resembles wood) would be weird. Am I right in this thinking? Our other options are to replace it with hard wood (which we are hesitant about because of the dog) or rip up the existing tile in the kitchen/entry way and replace it with the same wood tile. Which option be be the most logical?
Re: Flooring dilemma
Nothing wrong with tile against tile!
I would put in hardwood, though. We have two 50+ pound dogs plus two claw-y cats and have no issues with claws and scratches....and we installed our floors *before* we started renovating, so they have taken a beating. They have been extremely durable.
I think your house was the first place I ever saw the wood tile and at the time I had no idea it was tile. Your floors are beautiful!
I definitely would rather have tile than wood. We've come home to great Dane tummy troubles and I'm just not sure what effect that might have on hard wood.
We might have to take a little trip to Blanchard next weekend! Is it super expensive?

Do your dogs nails "click" against the wood? I can't remember if our dog has ever been on real hardwood but he's been on laminate floors before and the endless, click click click click click, when he walks across the floor is so annoying.
Hahaha you can even hear one of our cats clicking away on our laminate. I don't mind it -- it keeps them from sneaking up on me!
I have never noticed!
