Re: Monday Randoms
Sleepy! I stopped by McD's for a coffee (to use up a GC), and am wishing I got a large instead of a medium.
We had a busy weekend! Saturday we went to Nick's gma's and then to the IL's which took up most of the afternoon.
Sunday we went to church, then we did a ton of running around. Shopped for a wedding gift, got the H fitted for a tux for a friend's wedding, went to Home Depot to pick up some cleance perennials, and then to Meijer to do a little grocery shopping. By the time we were done babyWop was super tired.
Good morning!
We had plans to go kayaking last Saturday and they fell through (threw?) (It's too early.....
anyways.... I am still annoyed with the friend that set it all up. We got ready, bought beer, ice, all that crap, drove all the way out there just to find out that they had just decided they weren't going to go that day, for no particular reason. Glad I drove all that way to sit on the riverbank getting eaten by mosquitos. Grrrr.
Not weird, your ex-husband was the idiot not his family. Sorry to hear about that though.
Wow, you got a lot done! I went grocery shopping and to one other store yesterday and by the time I got home I was pooped. LOL
Oh my word, how awful! Did you at least drink the beer? ;-)
Oh yeah, we definitely made use of the beer.
Another rant. The same friends from the kayaking incident has owed me money for almost 2 months now. She just finally gave me the money on Saturday, but it was $15 short. I've been understanding, I know times are tough right now and the money was from something fun (a concert) so I didn't push....but I have bills to pay too.
I'm making this tonight...... I can't wait!

TTB - That soup looks so good!
Last week I put a few chicken breasts in the crockpot with a large jar of salsa, a can of black beans (drained) and a can of corn (drained). When the chicken was finished, I shredded it and added it back to the crock pot. We ate it with tortillas - ridiculously easy and very good.
Hope everyone has been doing well. I haven't been around much - just trying to get the nursery ready for #2. I turn 38 weeks on Thursday. A week ago, my Dr said I was 3cm and 60% effaced. I still have a sinking feeling that it will be August before I see the baby. I went 2 weeks over with Henry and am kind of expecting that again.
Kind of putzed around this weekend, trying to not die in the heat. A friend had a yardsale Saturday (she has twin girls and a 6 year old boy) so we went over there and picked up a few things, ran to target. Yesterday, we just slept in and worked on the house for a bit.
I think I'm going to make my summer corn chowder again -- it's a soup, but easy and so light its good even on the hot days. And I make it in my dutch oven, so it's easy and no mess.
Recipe?
The person next to me in the office has had these delish looking melba toasts just sitting on her desk ALL morning. Every time I look over, they are staring back at me. I want to steal them.....
That is cute.
Cute story, TW. I hope she calls him, too.
Good question. I need inspiration.
Aw! She should call him!!
2 med potatoes (I used redskins, you can use yukon golds)
1 small-med onion chopped
4 piece(s) corn on the cob, kernels removed with a knife or 2-ish cups frozen corn
half pkg bacon
2 cup(s) milk
add chicken broth as needed
Instructions
Pierce potato in several places with a fork; microwave on high power
until tender, turning over once, about 8 minutes. Allow to cool; peel
and mash. (I leave redskins with skins on)
Sautee bacon (diced) and onions in dutch oven until bacon is as done as you want it.
Add frozen corn and cook until cooked through
Add liquids and potatoes
Season as desired
Enjoy!
PS this was a recipe that I adapted to our taste. I actually used more chicken broth and a little less milk than the recipe called for...but make it to your liking.
It's Monday. Super busy, co worker is back, and boss is back to being a real jack a$$ again. It's kinda funny because we got a long well last week.
Van wouldn't start on Friday after work. It would start, then sputter, then turn off. Happened for an hour. Just gave up. So my friend took me to get it Sunday and it works fine. I am wondering if those high temperatures last week were making it act up. I'm just happy that it's running now.
It has been a long time since I have been on here! Hope everyone is doing well. I am truly enjoying the milder weather.
On a Negative note, my alternator on my car was going. Luckily I got it to our mechanic alright. He said I was lucky when he checked it. So I am home with DD with no car
Oh well, at least my husband will be home this afternoon so I can run some errands. NOT looking forward to this bill.....money is tight with us right now
I am so proud of myself. I have been working on cleaning/re-organizing the house for the past three weeks. I got rid of a ton of stuff that has been sitting in the basement since we moved in 5 years ago, re-arranged a few things, gathered a bunch of stuff, cleaned every corner o the house (just need to do the kitchen and finish the master bedroom this week).
I am having a garage sale on Friday. Never done one before. Kind of nervous, not knowing what to expect. Whatever is not sold is going to be donated. I can't wait to have everything GONE!
I've been struggling with what to make for dinner also. Burger and dogs. I did a chicken in the crock pot. We had Chicken Caesar Salad on night. Mainly we've just been snacking because we just don't feel like eating.
