I interviewed for a great job that I think would be a smart career move, and I was offered the job last Friday. They offered the low end of my salary range, which will only be about $500 more than my current position when I receive a raise in August. They also offered less paid time off: 10 vacation, I currently get 14; 5 sick days, I currently get 10; 10 holidays, I currently get 12.
I countered their offer and asked for an extra $5,000 and 15 vacation days. They countered back today and said they'd match my current 14 vacation days, but the salary stands.
So the salaries are almost a wash. I'd be losing a total of 9 paid days off, which will equal about $1,500. There is also no dental insurance, so I'd have to go on DH's. However, there is a 3% IRA match, which I do not currently have.
Would you counter their counter on my counter? LOL. I really would like to take this job, but don't want to take a step back. I'm really not sure what to do here. Any advice is appreciated!
Re: Countering a counter offer?
I create offers for the company I work for, including wages and honesty I would be offended if someone countered the second offer. They have already given you more then they originally wanted.
