Re: Confessions (eta-and disney talk)

  • I'll join Disney talk. I'm also Disney obsessed.  We aren't going until December and right now I have the 2012 Disney with families guide checked out of the library and I'm reading it now. :) I also have already priced out & started researching our 2014 Disney Alaska cruise.

I have a spreadsheet on my computer with each days meal reservation and a desired touring plan along with park and extra magic hours as well.

  • I'm trying to plan Disney for Spring 2014 or September 2014.  DD1 will be 4.5 or almost 5 and DD2 will be almost 2 or just over 2.  It's definitely overwhelming and that's where i'm sure I'll be meeting with Sarah to book all of that and guide us!  I want the first time to be on property and I'm afraid if we wait until DD2 is old enough to remember, DD1 will be out of that magic stage.

  • You know I had to jump in. :)  I went to Disney 3 times when I was pregnant and we're going 4 times before Logan turns 1, so yeah... There is actually a lot for him to do and I'm really looking forward to it. We love a good beach vacation though - I'm an equal opportunity vacationer (just with more frequent trips quick trips to Disney).

I think the mistake most people make the first trip is packing too much into the "one and only trip." There's a feeling that you have to see everything and it's just not possible. You have to cater to your family's interests without running around like a crazy person, because that's when it becomes less like a vacation and more like a military exercise.

FWIW, I went to Disney for the first time when I was 11 "so I'd remember it" and I don't remember ANY of it. My only memories are through pictures.

And not to pimp out my services, but CALL OR EMAIL ME! I actually like doing the crap work behind the planning so I don't mind at all.

Right now you can book through 2013. The airfare is usually available 10 months in advance (unless you're doing Southwest or AirTran which I recommend to MCO and then it's less than that).

That's exactly how old our kids will be when I want to go!

  • we leave in two weeks and DD will be closer to 4 than 3 1/2. I have all our dining planned but also going in with the motto of we see what we see and not plan out every second. We also are not doing Epcot this time around. I figure in a couple more years we will go again. I know there will be some thign she can't ride due to height, but oh well.  I haven't been there since I was in HS and DH since he was 10 yrs old. I think I am just as excited as DD. We did get free dining, but I was quite impressed how much more affordable it was than I thought. We are doing a moderate resort in the new Enchanted Guest rooms at Port Orleans/ Riverside.

One blog you might want to still "like" on FB now before planning is the Disney Food Blog. OMG they have some great pics. :)

I'm going to Facebook message you...

  • Another actual confession is that I'm super glad DD isn't able to start kindergarten this year! I have to pretend in front of the grandmas like I'm disapointed that she missed the cutoff (by 6 days) b/c they both thought I should've pushed for her to go, but in reality I'm not. I think it's mainly b/c we're moving but I cannot imagine having to register her for kindy, shop for BTS supplies, etc. right now. Not to mention the emotions involved, the changes to our routine, figuring out childcare, etc. I'm quite happy to just keep things the same for another year and deal with it next year!

I also booked our meals at 180 days out and even have ideas for our quick service meals. I'm spending lots of time on All Ears and DisBoards and am watching the fantasyland construction closely.

This will be jackson's 4th trip. While he may not remember, memories of him running to pooh bear as fast as he could go when he could barely walk will stay with me forever.

Even at 2 Jackson could ride the vast majority of the rides. Only things like thunder and space mountain were off limits.

  • I have never been to Disney.

DH and I have talked about going alone but never did. We vacationed in Daytona once and were going to drive in and do general admission (then $50) to the magic kingdom just to see it and say we were there, but it rained the day we were going to go so we didnt...I am sure Adam would have fun, I'd kind like to go, but I have no immediate plans and no desire to spend a week and see every.single.thing. and be on the go the entire time!  Maybe some day....  Honestly he would probably be happier to go to Disneyland to go to Carsland.

I feel like we did nothing this summer and it is almost over.

I am honestly excited about Adam starting Preschool and have 0 stress about it. Maybe it will be different when the day comes ( which I am taking off the first day) but I dont feel like it will be a hard thing to do. I know he is ready and he is excited!  my biggest concern is DH getting him up ready and there ON TIME, and remembering to go get him at 11 so he isnt the kid sitting there waiting for his dad to show...

Kris and Emmy, my patents made us wait till I was "old enough to enjoy it" which they said was around 11. My brother was a senior in high school I think!!

Personally I think it was a complete waste!! I had fun but I was past the magic stage. I wish we would have gone when I was younger.

We went in Feb when dd was 3.5. And it was a perfect age. She may not remember but WE will. It was pure magic for her! I'm glad we went now because she is obsessed with princesses who knows what she will love I. a year or 2.

I know a lot of people want to wait till their kids are older but personally I think it is so magical when they are young. Dd was old enough to enjoy it but young enough to believe in it all. While disneybis fun I'm not sure it will be as magical and fun if we go when dd is older. I think it's lacking in rides and is all about the magical experience.

Oh and dealing with a stroller was no big deal! I liked having it! Could use it for storage!

This exactly! And actually it was so magical that we plan to go every 12-18 months for as long as the girls love it. We aren't obsessed with the rides, etc. but it's priceless seeing the girls faces.

Amanda- Disney caters to all allergies, you don't have to worry about eating at restaurants with her there!!!

  • I love that the most active thread in a long time is a confessions thread that turned into Disney talk!
