  Today, of all days, we should be reminded how great it is that we get to express and exercise our personal opinions. I'm pretty sure I am the queen of Judgey McJudgerson's around here, but I can't flame anyone for not liking these kinds of FB posts. I agree with the PP poster (sorry, I can't remember who it was) that asked why everyone waits until one month to do this? I get that Thanksgiving falls in November, but really? It just seems blatantly obvious and almost fake in a way.

  Look, FB is basically a platform for people to brag, in general. I do it - and like, Meghan, I sometimes find my own posts annoying a couple of days later, so I delete them. Heck, I have one college friend who CONSTANTLY updates her profile pic - I mean, sometimes several times a day. For reasons I can speculate on, this makes her feel better about herself. Oh well - some of her posts annoy me, so I hide them.

  But, let's be honest - to come out of months (years?!) of lurkerdom and to take a random post like this as a personal attack is, quite frankly, assinine. And I will (quietly) speculate as to the reasons why it was felt that it was necessary to "come out" and state that you feel like you are being attacked when it's appearing that most of the "regulars" around here aren't even " friends" with you anyway - and most of it from your doing and you being a very private person when you were a regular around here!

  Gah.

  Seriously, this was just a post of people venting about being annoyed about something as stupid as FB statuses - not "backlash".  Everyone gets annoyed with random things and vents about it, but you are turning it into something more than that.  Please don't act like the reason you unfriended me was because you thought you were bothering me, just own it.  You took it personally and you reacted.

  Not that it matters at this point, but my vent was not in reference to the overall thankful posts - of course I think being thankful is a positive thing - it was towards a style of update that seems fake and show-y from those who take no action to make the world a better place other than to step on their soap box to preach. I don't go around hiding or unfriending people because of it, it simply annoys me, no more, no less.  There's no need to go turning it into something it isn't.

  My DH is always annoyed with FB. I'll admit I roll my eyes at a lot of it, but it's like what can people put on there that's not annoying at this point? If everyone stopped bragging, talking about politics, posting too many pictures and just generally giving a play-by-play of their days, no one would post anything and we'd have nothing to distract ourselves while we're at work, sitting in traffic, home with our kids, etc.
