I am going to be the voice of dissent on this one. If your father is so allergic to cats that he is in danger it his throat closing, the cat has to go. By choosing to keep the cat while knowing he could have an extreme reaction if he is around it, you are sending the message that you value the cat more than your relationship with your father. I don't think that they should have given you an ultimatum , but I would be more understanding of the fact that he has an actual medical reason for not being around cars.
