"We get up at twelve and start to work at one....

...an hour for lunch and then at two we're done.  A jolly good time!"

Morning.

Here are two WTF articles to begin your day.

Chinese mother flushed her newborn baby boy, rescuers got him out: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2331941/Chinese-baby-rescued-ALIVE-toilet-pipe-flushed-away-parents.html

Idiotic hippy couple travels to Hawaii so she can give birth with dolphins: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2331946/Dolphin-birth-Experts-blast-couple-flying-Hawaii-DOLPHIN-assisted-birth.html

Re: "We get up at twelve and start to work at one....

  • Please don't pay attention to where the dolphin crazies are from.  Chances are they are from Asheville which is hippy town.

I also have no idea about the quote.

  • I'm really just kind of wtf at the dolphin-assisted birth. Then I see the picture of the couple and I think....oh, okay. Yeah.

As for the Chinese baby. That pi$$es me off. I'm glad he's okay. Not having read but only the first paragraph or so, I missed if it was mentioned if the woman who gave birth to him claimed that she didn't know. If so, I call BS.

And the movie quote? Can I have a hint? :)

  • I wonder if baby had been a girl if they would have reacted the same?  If the parents are going to be charged now, would they be if it was a girl?

I thought they kept the boys and got rid of the girls.

  • Exactly.  So if it was a girl that was flushed and not a boy, how would this article be different.  Would it have been an article or story at all?  China is strange.

  • Let's get back to this dolphin thing... so the couple who don't have jobs and no place to live can afford airfare to HAWAII and birth a child with f'n dolphins.  I defer to Rachel for my reaction:

I just don't even know sometimes.

But in other news, it's Tuesday and not Monday so yay for that Party!!!.  Other than that, I got nuthin'

I want to know if they've actually found a place that will let her give birth with dolphins.  Places that home dolphins are usually quite strict with what can happen there so ... is she just going out into the wild?  And why dolphins?  Why not antelope in Africa?  Why not in the rainforests of Hawaii with all the other unexplored life?  I want to ask these people questions.

Wow, no one on the quote?  It's a classic movie.

"It's hard to work on an empty stomach, have some crullers."

"Elmira Gulch, just because you own half the county doesn't mean you have the right to own the rest of us.  For twenty three years I've been dying to tell you what I thought of you, but now being a Christian woman, I can't say it."

  • When we went on our cruise when I was pregnant, we looked into swimming with the dolphins again, but they didn't allow pregnant women to do it because the second heartbeat freaked out the dolphins. I can't imagine how they would react if a baby was being born in there with them. Eek.

Still got nothing on the movie.

"Well, some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don't they?"

Hello! Those news stories are crazy.
I have to go into work a little early to take someone on an appt. I'm annoyed, because I should have to except my stupid lazy piece of *** coworker didn't set up transportation last week for this week like she was supposed to and we couldn't do it yesterday because they were closed so no one has any transportation for today. Ughhhhh. I don't understand why they are still keeping her! She sucks so bad.

    Yay, jlq!!!

"Hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable."

"And remember my sentimental friend, a heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others."

Aaaaand... the quote that went on the dedication page for my thesis!

"Why anybody can have a brain.  ...Back where I come from, we have universities, seats of great learning, where men go to become great thinkers.  And when they come out, they think deep thoughts and with no more brains than you have."

  • "As Coroner I must aver, I thoroughly examined her, and she's not only merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead."

I can't even read that article about the woman in China. Just the title of it makes me sick in my stomach.

    Let's continue with wtf articles...

This was published in a respectable science journal today.  I'm not saying the study isn't useful, I'm just saying .... wtf.

    http://www.pnas.org/content/110/17/6925.full?sid=1e5dc826-76da-4090-a28b-01316afcd238

I also keep falling over the phrase "penis size interacts with ..." because it's not like penis size is a physical being capable of touching and, well, interacting with something.  Strange wording to me.  Coordinates would be a better verb, I think.

So for my second job, I work every other weekend, and I get a schedule for the month near the end of the preceding month. Well I never got June's schedule, so I emailed our scheduler about it, and this is what he sends back "Give me a call this afternoon or when get chance".
If I wanted to call and actually talk to you I would have. I emailed you for a reason. UGhhhhhhh.

This is what finally gave me a clue.  In 6th grade, I was one of the "little ones" cast in the play and I distinctly remember hearing this while on stage.

  • Joy- I was actually going to say that!  Still every time he catches the beginning of it he goes "This must be the original."  "A, there's only been one (not including Oz and all that crap)." "But it's in black and white, I thought it was in color." He's so cute sometimes.  I will have to force him to sit down and watch it.  Hmm, wonder if I can get it on amazon for cheap. The only version I have (or had?) was a from tv taped version with commercials.

I also had to google...I didnt know it was a movie...weird.

Those articles make me angry too. I don't understand people at all! SERIOUSLY!!

I am hungry and have no idea what to have for a snack. Eating gluten and grain free makes it hard for snacks. You can't just go to a cupboard and have some crackers. I suppose I could survive till lunch...only 20 minutes. It seem like eternity. I think I'll start cooking now! Im making sweet potato noodles and home made spaghetti sauce.  The noodles are the weirdest thing ever and are made from sweet potato starch but it works.

Sweet potato noodles sound awesome.  I'm hungry.

EEEE - awww, you weren't a loser!  I actually really liked drama in elementary and middle school.  I got leads and stuff, which is crazy now that I think about it.  Then, drama practice became improv-based between plays and I had to just make things up on the spot and act like a weirdo because it was fun!!!  It wasn't fun - gimme a script and I'll be as weird as you want.  But, like, just standing there one day in class?  No.  I bailed.  Quickly.

HI GALS!! I am back from vacation and finally caught up on email and voice mail. HAHA! We had an awesome time. Utah was amazing. I had never been out west so I was completely in awe of how beautiful our country is! If you have never been I would totally recommend it. We cover five National Parks all in UT; Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Caynonlands. Bryce was my favorite! Vegas was fun as well. The people watching is amazing. The fountains at the Bellagio was my favorite free activity. The Cirque show was my favorite part of Vegas though. We saw Mystere at Treasure Island.

Hope everyone had a great couple of weeks while I was gone. Beanie and Uneek HI!

Joy: I didn't read the articles yet but WTH. Where do you find this stuff?

They are quite yummy once you get over the strange texture. We get them from an Asian grocery store. I should post a pic of them once they are cooked...so weird looking.

Well, it's hard to convince 6th grade evita she wasn't a loser when the girl with mental retardation was given longer lines than I was.  In retrospect, I get that they probably did that to boost her confidence and make her feel good about herself but it felt like a b**chslap of epic proportions when I was younger.  But I'm totes over it....Embarrassed

Oh no, EEE.  Did you ever say anything to anyone?  Like your Mom or the teacher?  I bet they would've explained it to you.  I'm sorry!

Hi Degrea!  Welcome back!  I'd love to travel out west one day.  Our vacation list is excessive at the moment.

I loooove Cirque du Soleil.  Is that trendy or side-eye worthy?  I don't care!  We had tickets for next weekend to the traveling show Totem.  We have a wedding that day and were really upset that we couldn't go.  StubHub saved the day!  We sold the tickets and bought new ones for later in June.  YAY!!!

Oh heck no.  I was waaaaaay too embarassed to ever admit this to anyone.  But it's one of those things that you don't think about for years and all of the sudden you have an epiphany like "OOHHHH That's what really happened!" because you are so used to just looking at the situation how you did at the time.

I had the same epiphany when I looked back on my heartbreak when Mickey asked me out in fourth grade.  His friend Drew asked me if I would ever go out with Mickey.  I said "No" meaning yes but I was too shy to say yes.  But then Drew came to me the next day saying Mickey didn't really want to ask me out, it was just a joke.  My little heart was broken and for years I was hurt because of this.  Then *epiphany* Mickey was probably embarassed that I had rejected him.  But I couldn't talk to my mom because she was horrified that I got asked out in fourth grade when I talked to her after it happened (but before the rejection) so I knew I could never talk to her about boys again.  And I didn't, ever.
