"We get up at twelve and start to work at one....
Re: "We get up at twelve and start to work at one....
Awww! That's such a sweet and sad story. Everyone's feelers were hurt.
I could see my sixth grade self saying something like "Even Megan gets more lines than me!!!" in frustration and then my mom or teacher (or whoever in the vicinity) would pull me aside and explain. I did this once in fourth grade during our "NJ is awesome" play. I didn't get the part I wanted and was *pissed*.
Memories. I'm glad you guys are still around. I like chatting :-)
Good Morning....Afternoon, whatever.
My dad's favorite movie is the Wizard of Oz.He quotes it all the time.
I stayed up too late last night reading again. I regret nothing. Am reading the Dresden file books. Totally awesome. I am fearing the end of the published books though. I only have about three more waiting. I love my nook so very much.
My husband is not a reader. He says he has a reading disorder. Says he can read but not actually comprehend novels. That he can only comprehend text books. Weird. I want to get him the audio books of whatever I am reading so we can discuss it.
Also I want to duct tape his mouth when I am reading in bed. He will watch TV and be looking at randomness online and keeps trying to talk to me. I don't think he understands I am not in this world when I am reading. I am fully immersed in the books world. Makes me want to throw things at him. When I ask him to stop talking to me, he will for about 15 minutes. And he wonders why I take a long bath every night with my book. lol.

Welcome back! Bryce Canyon was also one of my favorites. I actually liked it better than the Grand Canyon. Just beautiful.

Now I desperately need to know what part you didn't get. Was it some famous New Jerseyan?
Mono - I approve of your use of emoticons as well as your decision to stay up late reading! Reading is waaaaay more important than sleep.
my read shelf:
Agh! My husband does that, Mono! Every morning I get up, have a cup of tea, and read the news on my computer. I try to tiptoe around so he doesn't get up because once he does, he talks... nonstop. I will look at him sternly and say "This is Joy's quiet time." He finds it funny.
EEEE - Okay. My elementary school did this whole NJ play every year. It was a Wizard of Oz type story where Dorothy and her friends leave NJ but then want to come back (stop laughing). There was even a catchy song "New Jersey is the place for me, New Jersey is my home, you see. It's where I belong, it's where I'll be! New Jersey is the place for me." (Shut up).
I wanted to be Dorothy. I thought I had it in the bag. It was scooped out from under me by a friend of mine. I was Glinda instead. It was just so unfair and I'm still a little bitter (obviously).
The play was done every year by the fourth graders so I saw it five times between 1st and 5th grade. I still know everything about New Jersey's flag, geography, state flower, state motto, etc. The fourth graders who put on the play even go to Trenton to meet the governor, see his house and see the state house where all the voting happens. It was actually really cool. I met the governor at nine!
That.Is.FANTASTIC! I love it. Were you able to stay friends with the girl who stole your part or was that a friendship ending move?
Those weird little plays have a way of sticking with you don't they? As corny and cheesey as they are, they are some of the best work.
I still remember entire songs from our fourth and fifth grade plays. Fourth grade was called "Whale of an Ending" where for an entire month we learned about the ocean in all of our major subjects. We made this giant whale out of paper mache and then used a giant parachute to pretend to be a jellyfish.
Fifth grade was all about America. We sang a song about inventors (sample lyrics: Otis made the elevator go up / the Wrights knew the right way to fly / so when you're spelling the word Amer-i-ca don't for get to dot the i (for the inventors) / Don't forget to dot the iiiiiiii") and a song that contained the entire preamble to the Constitution. I do-see-doed with Drew (said boy from the previous story about heartbreak) and it was one of the shining moments of my young life as I then had a major crush on Drew.
MEMMMMMMMMMMMORIES
my read shelf:
Joy, My husband does try to bug me in the mornings too. He does not understand that all silence is not bad. He also has to talk in the car. If he does not talk the radio must be on. I am ok to just watch the scenery go by.
So ladies, what is for dinner?

Ask me stuff.
Ha! Yes, we stayed friends. I actually cheered her on in Philly's ten mile race a few weeks ago. We aren't close, but certainly friendly. She's a really nice girl.
I totally love your America lyrics. Now I want to hear it sung.
Mono - I'm not sure what's for dinner!! I do all the food getting and meal planning. I realized that Jay couldn't read my mind and would often eat food that I earmarked for something else. I now put a list of possible meals on the refrigerator door so he knows what's available. Maybe I'll do homemade pizza tonight.
PS - why is refrigerator and fridge? Why don't both have a d and g or both only have a g? I find this confusing.
I have never thought of that before. Seems strange. But then the English language makes no sense.
Tonight is roasted turkey tenderloin, mashed red potatoes, gravy, broccoli, and I will be making some french bread in a few minutes.
Am I the only one who thinks broccoli is a weird word?

Joy: I don't think it is one of the side eyed ones. I assume you would side eye the Michael Jackson and Chris Angel type ones. I believe it is the original Cirque show is Vegas and traditional type Cirque show. That is what I read at least. Either way I agree they are awesome. I really want to see the one at the Bellagio called "O."
I was never in a play. At least not that I remember. I know we sang the state song in elementary school, The one that puts the states in alphabetical order.
Tonight?s dinner will be out somewhere since there is no food in the house. Grocery shopping is on the to do list.
