Really, jlq? You don't know this movie? Oh noes.
"As you wish."
I also did not know the movie but the randomness of the quotes made me quess and then aggie shared her little piece of news and I knew! I watched it once when dh and I first met but I fell asleep. Apparently it's one of his moms favourites so I HAD to watch it.
I also have a wedding this weekend!! Who knows how to do easy up dos for hair or has tutorials?? It's supposed to be super hot and the wedding is outside and I hate heat so I think I want it up. Dh loves it down though so I might have to start with it down and have a putting up later plan.
How long is your hair, Echo? If it's passed your shoulders, then read on!
I have one of these: http://www.goodyhair.co.uk/products-page/simple-styles/goody-simple-styles-modern-updo-pin-1-pack/
I bought it at CVS (regular drug store) for a few bucks.
Here's a YouTube video where the girl shows you how to use it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7T6IxWp4YE
Seriously - you have awesome hair in an up do that looks like it took you an hour and only took five minutes. I use it nearly every day and get lots of compliments.
The longer your hair is, the less likely you'll need a few bobby pins for stray hairs, but I'd have some on hand. I also recommend practicing a few times to get used to it. Enjoy!!
Oh sigh - I didn't watch the whole video! I just scrolled to see if she gave some ideas on how to use it since it's hard to explain (but easy to do).
No, it doesn't hurt my head. Sometimes I find that when I'm pushing it into my hair that it's entirely too close to my scalp. I usually pull it out and try again. There's no need to bruise yourself!
My attempt at explaining how I use it:
Pull your hair into a low pony tail. No elastic.
Twist it around into a bun. Tuck the ends into the bun.
Place the two pronged end of the pin into the bottom of the bun and have the prongs come out of the hair near the center of the bun.
Lift the curved end of the pin away from the head and keep going until it is touching the middle of the back of your head.
Push downward all the way. The pin will be hidden amongst your hair.
I use one or two bobby pins to hold any stray hairs.
Sure, the point where you push it into your head can go a bit wonky. One prong might go right down your scalp and that hurts. If that happens, I just do it again. No big deal.
Oh, Echo! Two other ideas:
1. Put your hair into a pony tail about halfway up your head. Pull the elastic down just a bit and part the hair between the elastic and your scalp in half. Push your pony tail UP through the hole you've created. Take small sections of pony tail hair, curl the ends under and pin them to the back of your head. It's quick and kinda cool looking.
2. The Gibson tuck. I never mastered this one, mostly because I think my hair is too thin and slippery, but you might have better luck!

Sweet thanks joy!! Ill have to check all these out!!
