Working on updating our first home. We closed on our house in March 2014. It has been a fun first year, fixing it up.  It was built in 1959 and there has been some updating over the years, but when we bought it it was not in great shape.  After a year of working on it DIY, the "little things" we've done like floor transitions that don't expose the sub-floor, actual baseboard molding, and paint from the 21st century.  Now I am ready to tackle some of the areas that worked "well enough" so we've left them alone until now.  The latest project is the kitchen.  We've been thinking on what to do this whole time. I'm not inspired on what to do there just yet. Kitchen space is 10'x10' and dining space is 10'x7'. Currently has lots of outdated: wood cabinets, tile counters and back-splash, vinyl floors, white appliances. These are some of the things we're thinking of doing... (where to begin?) * Replace counters, back-splash, floor, sink, and appliances. * Paint or replace cabinets. Add hardware to cabinets. * Remove corner-built-in breadbox cabinet * Add microwave over range * Open up all or some of wall behind the fridge and stove to open up to living room * Move fridge and or sink (kitchen triangle) * Create island or G shape * Replace cabinets * Increase/improve dining space
