Wacky Wednesday Poll

Re: Wacky Wednesday Poll

  • 1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for? We don't really follow pro football.

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall? Halloween, hot cider and pumpkins

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01? I was at work. I lived in CA at the time but worked at a bakery and had to be there super early. We were listening to the radio in Spanish and were all like. 'Wait, what?!' I remember later that morning a customer came in who hadn't heard what happened and I had to tell her. She must have been living under a rock!

  • 1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for?

I prefer High School Football, but I did watch the Fresno Bull Dog's first game of the season with my Grandfather and it was a lot of fun.

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall?

I like everything pumpkin and apple. I also have a love of everything Thanksgiving.

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01?

I was ending up my overnight shift at Kinkos in California. CNN was always playing on the TV in the main room at that time. I saw the second plain go in the tower in real time. I remember thinking it was a good thing that I had finished all the work in the store because nothing was going to get done for the rest of the day. I waited out the rest of my shift watching CNN with the customers.

    1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for?  Yes! Professional:  NY Jets, College:  Notre Dame

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall?  The cooler weather and pumpkin flavored everything

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01?  I live in the area, so I had been on a bus in NJ headed into the city. I spent most of the day on the side of the NJ Turnpike (you could see the smoke from the towers where I was) since they had closed down the bridges.  Only 1 or 2 people out of the full bus had phones working so we all took turns trying to get in touch with loved ones.

  • 1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for?  Mostly I watch college football and cheer for Ohio State.  I'm also a Giants fan but don't get to watch much NFL.

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall?  Weather cooling off, busting out the scarves and sweaters, drinking pumpkin spice lattes, getting to make soups and stews.. the list goes on.

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01?  I was a freshman in college and listening to the radio while getting ready for classes (west coaster).  My mom came in crying to see if I knew what was going on and told me to come watch it on tv.

  • 1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for? I will be living and breathing football until February.  I bleed Green and Gold (the Packers).  I also root for the Wisconsin Badgers and Northwestern Wildcats.

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall?  See above.    I also love the leaves changing, the cooler temperatures, apple picking, pumpkins, my anniversary....I could go on.  I love fall.

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01? I was in college.  My mom called and told me to turn on the TV because a plane just flew into a building.  I asked, "On purpose?".  I then went to class, where half the people hadn't even heard what happened.

    1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for?  Sometimes. We are Redskins fans. We usually get so pissed off by mid-season we stop watching. Last year was great though. :)

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall?  Cooking hearty fall meals.

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01?  I was on terminal leave  (when you use up your vacation time prior to discharge) from the Marine Corps. I had just started my first civilian job working at a bank. I happened to walk through the teller area and saw  it on TV.

@CeeCeeSugaPie thank you for your service! If you don't mind me asking, how did this affect your leave/discharge? Were you called back? I imagine it would have been a hard time of uncertainty, especially as others you had served with were gearing up for a response and eventual war.
You're welcome. I don't mind you asking at all. had to report to a base nearby monthly for a while. I was very lucky and did not get called back. I think it helped that my very last duty station was a non-deployable unit at Quantico. It was a pretty stressful time for us. My DH was in Light-Armored Recon so we worried about him as well. We were exceedingly fortunate. On one hand we felt like we should stay and the other was just thankful that we were done.

  • 1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for? Yep. Mainly college football. I root for Clemson (Tigers).

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall? All of it. The pumpkin/apple scents. Colorful/crunchy leaves. Cooler weather. Fall clothing. If I had to pick one I'd say Thanksgiving. Family and food are my favorites.

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01? I was in middle school. It was my social studies class. The intercom came on and the principal announced what was happening and for all teachers to turn on the news. All the teachers were in the hallway talking/crying, especially after the second plane hit and they must have realized what was going on. I remember being pretty calm until I got an early dismissal (with many others) and my mom was crying when she picked me up and was listening to it all on the radio.

  • Do you watch football?  What team do you root for? @mrsvedo I feel you here.  My Dad is a Lions fan and DH is a Raiders fan - there's no such thing as a "good" Sunday when it's football season.  I do like football though and will pretty much watch any game but I root for the Raiders for NFL and of course, the Wolverines for college.

What is your favorite thing about fall?  Reading books with the windows open under a blanket while wearing a hoodie and all the apple desserts I can make with the apple orchard trips.

Where were you when 9/11/01 happened? My history class in high school actually.

  • 1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for? It was our mutual love of football that first brought my husband and I together so yes we watch it every chance we get! Since I'm originally from the Steel City the Steelers are my boys (although this year isn't looking so good)

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall? Football (I wish I was kidding)

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01? Sitting in what was supposed to be a music theory class senior year of HS. Our teacher came out, turned on the TV in the classroom saying "something much bigger than us is happening right now.." That was, I believe, in between the first and second plane.

  • 1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for? Nope, none

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall? The colors, and Halloween

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01? I was in class, Geography to be specific, I was a freshman in high school.

  • 1. I work every weekend, which gives me a great excuse not to watch football.

    2. I love fall clothing the best! And I also love the smells of autumn. And the changing of the leaves.

    3. I was out of college and working as a youth program director. My mom called me at work to tell me what had happened. Our boss sent us home at noon, and I spent the next 14 hours reading the ticker on the bottom of the screen on the Fox News Channel before finally falling asleep.

  • >1) Do you watch Football? What team do you root for?
    - not really, it usually puts me to sleep. I enjoy the get togethers and food during games though lol. Go Chicago Bears!

    2) What is your favorite thing about Fall?
    - I can't name just one. This is my favorite season. The temperatures. The smells. The colors. The leaves changing color and then falling. Jumping into piles of leaves. Fall sweaters. I love this season.

    3) Where were you when you heard what was happening on 9/11/01?
    - I was a sophomore in college, getting ready for class. I watched the tv in horror. I just stood there frozen, half dressed with a spoonful of cereal halfway to my mouth.

  • 1. I watch football! Love it. We root for Da Bears. I also used to dance at our college games so I also cheer for the NIU Huskies and go to at least one game a year.

    2. Fall is about crisp weather, pumpkin pie, and the pumpkin farm! I cannot wait until my kids are school age and they get to do all the fun fall things.

    3. I skipped my philosophy class when we watched the second tower get hit. The day was a mess of scary madness.

My cat stops shedding like her fur coat is going out of fashion!

  • 1) I pretend to because my husband loves it, but I really have no idea what's going on and don't care.  HTTR!

    2) THE CLOTHES.  I could never live anywhere where I wouldn't need cardigans, scarves, and boots.  My shopping gene is going crazy right now.

    3) I was walking my dog.  We lived in Pentagon City, in Arlington, across Army-Navy drive from the Pentagon.  The ground shook, and someone who was outside too told me that the gas station on the 395 exit just exploded, I ran inside to tell MH and we ran around the corner of the apartment building and saw the smoke.  Later, I couldn't pass by that giant flag covering the hole without choking up.

The memorial there is beautiful, if you've never had a chance to see it, you should.
