Partial molar pregnancy? (obv loss mentioned)
I found out today that the pathology from my d&c came back and it is a suspected partial molar pregnancy so now I have to TTA much longer than the one cycle we were told and I need weekly and then monthly blood work to make sure none of the 'mole' is left in my body. Everything online says that with a molar/partial molar I have to TTA for 6 months to 12 months. Does anyone have any experience or know anyone who experienced this? This has thrown me into a tailspin...

Re: Partial molar pregnancy? (obv loss mentioned)
I'm not terribly familiar with molar pg, but from what I have heard you typically need to wait about a year. Have you had your follow-up appt. for the D&C yet? Definitely questions to ask your doctor.

My TTC Journey Blog
One of the girls in my IF support group had a molar pregnancy in August. She, too, just found out that's what happened and is going through what you're going through. Her doc said she has to get blood work weekly to make sure her HCG levels continue to go down confirming they got everything with her D&Cs. He also said that once they get to 0 or <1, they'll continue blood work weekly to make sure they stay down. She said they just have to take a few months off TTC. Of course, though, if her HCG levels don't continue to lower, there are a lot more drastic things that have to happen to make sure the "mole" is gone. In those instances, it's usually 12 months TTA because of the measures they have to go through to get the "mole" out of there.
FX and many prayers that your HCG levels will continue to lower and that you'll heal well and easily.

Thanks for all your wishes ladies... I'm doing okay, just really surprised by the turn of events. I had a consult with my doc over the phone yesterday, and all she said was I had to be 100% religious in not getting pregnant right now but didn't say how long.
What I know about it is that if my HCG does not go down or goes up, I need to be treated with mild chemo because it can cause some disease (I don't remember the name) and the mole could spread and could become malignant.
I POAS this weekend to see if there is still HCG in my system (which there is, faint BFP), so I know my results this week will come back with some amount, but I'm hoping since my bleeding has stopped that its a good sign that my levels are down.
As for follow-up, I haven't been for my post-d&c appointment because I was supposed to see my family doctor if I had one. I will probably just book in with gyn now. I also have a nurse who will be following my case and blood work who I will be contacting me to set up an appointment.
This thing is never ending...I started spotting over two months ago, and spotted/bled on and off until this week and now that it's stopped - this. Ugh.

My Ovulation Chart

"You know you're in love when you don't want to fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." - Dr. SeussIn my case, it took about 3 months after my D&C for HCG to go to zero. Then I had an anovulatory cycle, and then I was back to normal. I didn't want to wait 12 months because I was 34 and already had 2 m/c. My OB was okay with not waiting it just meant more ultrasounds & bloodwork to make sure it was a viable pregnancy and not molar tissue. We happened to get pregnant the first cycle (5-6 months after my D&C). I never expected that, and I was scared, but it was okay in the end - I had a perfectly normal pregnancy and had a baby girl in Feb 2013.
My advice is to do some reading and talk to your doctor about what you want. They tend to give the "textbook" answer when that isn't the best answer for everyone. The wait time was worse than the miscarriage for me, it was a devastating diagnosis. But ultimately it was okay, and it will be okay for you too. Many, many, many women go on to have normal pregnancies after a partial molar pregnancy. Remember the statistics are in your favor.
Sending you lots of healing thoughts!
