Re: Thursday Randoms

  • Woohoo for the boss not being there!

My annual bonus tomorrow is a little more than twice what it was last year. Most is going to savings but I am going to use a small chunk of it to treat myself to something I wouldn't normally buy/do. Not sure what yet, possibly clothes. Although I have also never done anything girlie like go to a spa and do the whole mani/pedi thing either.

One of my co-workers is working from home today because her daycare is closing early. So she's updating our tracking spreadsheets where we tracking every account we work on. When she emails me to update an account because she thinks it's missing info, I get a small amount of pleasure emailing her back that the reason it's missing info is because it's not actually complete yet so there is nothing to fill in. Yes, imagine that-I am on top of my work.

Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

  • For once, Chicago isn't getting blasted with snow!

I haven't run in weeks because of weather/health issues.  I was all ready to go this morning and my knee is a big, swollen mess.  I'm ridiculously, unnecessarily depressed about not getting out there.

I would die without my mani/pedi days.  The times I've tried to do my own nails have not worked out well.

You definitely need a mani/pedi day!

Definitely use the money for that!!!  I have had to cut back since having the kids, but pedicures are my anti-drug.

  • No boss is always the best.  Mine tends to send me email after email with things to do even when he is out of the office :-<   Last week he went on a cruise so he had no access to email.  It was pure bliss.

  • I need a servant to get me another cup of tea.  But servants insist on stupid things, like being fed and paid.  Dumb servants ..

  • I'm working from home today because of the snow. I really need a pen to keep working on the project I am in the middle of. I have zero desire to get up and look for a pen. So, I'm nesting and facebooking instead.

  • I am having the worst dreams lately. Nightmares really. Last night there were two. I woke-up after both, and when I finally got back to sleep after the second dream, it continued!

I'm having a hard time shaking them. Both have really stuck with me this morning.

  • Today is my Friday.  It's also a snowy mess outside, so I'm wearing jeans and it feels even more like Friday.  And I'm probably leaving early because of the weather.  All these things are awesome.

DH and I are going to Boston for the day/night tomorrow and it's all I can think about today.  It was going to be way more epic before I found out I'm pregnant because now I can't drink or anything, but it should still be pretty awesome just to get away for a day and night.  There will be amazing BBQ for lunch, because we want nothing to do with going out for dinner on valentines day.  Plus, we're going to see G Love at House of Blues tomorrow night (I adore him), and his first set is going to be his entire first album from beginning to end.  And his 12 year old son is going to sit in on drums with him.  I'm beside myself with excitement about the whole thing.

No work will get done here today.

I'm still entertained by having witnessed my south Georgia native DH shoveling the foot of snow we got last night off the deck.  Did I mention it's snowing again?  Hehe.

Also, I super want a pair of Norwegian curling team pants.  Preferably with one of the curling team boys still in them.

  • I'm on my third snow day in a row. Still no work or class. I'm just eating and reading. I feel like the laziest person ever this week but I love it.

OMG, PLEEEZE tell me right now!  There are no words for how much I love him and his music.  We go see him every time he's around (which is pretty often with him partly living in Boston and all).  I'm just glad DH seems to be almost as into his music as I am.  I met him once at a meet and greet thing after a really big show (so there were tons of people there) and it was the standard "hows it going, awesome show, can we take a picture" kind of thing, but I actually wanted to make out with him.  So yeah, I want to hear all about it!  Now!  Please.
  • I keep having really realistic dreams.  Vivid.  My dreams are usually vivid, but generally they are pretty easy to tell that it is just a dream.

A few nights ago I had a dream about my grandmother dying, which did happen.  But in the dream my dad died as well.
Last night I had a dream that I was a ghost and I was trying to wrap my arms around my husband while he was laying in bed, hoping that he would know I was here.

I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

  • I'm beginning to hate snow days.  DH is upset with me because I can't keep the house clean, watch 2 kids, and put in 8 hours of telework at the same time.  He says he can't multitask because he's shoveling, but I'm just sitting here on the computer.  ::seethes::

    So, back in the day....

On a random Thursday night, G. Love and Special Sauce were playing at a college close to the one I was attending at the time.  My roommate’s friend was friends with them, so he asked if we wanted to see them and meet the band.  I went along with it because my roommate was a huge fan.  So we get there, see the show, then somehow ended up at the hotel where they were staying and we were all drinking together in the hotel lobby.  It was just me, roommate, roommate’s friend, and band.  We were having an awesome time.  They were all SO nice and didn’t make the conversation all about themselves.  Anyway, it gets to be about 4:00 a.m. and I’m exhausted and sitting in a really comfortable armchair in the lounge.  Next thing I know, I had dozed off for a few seconds and I’m being woken up by G. Love saying, “Look at this one!  Apparently I’m not entertaining enough for her!”  He kicked my foot, I woke up in a panic, and the whole band started cracking up.  I was MORTIFIED, but they were all so super nice about it.  I left soon after that.

So that’s the night I fell asleep in the middle of a conversation with G. Love and Special Sauce.

  • So. I went to work today. I am sad, and definitely foggy, but I put on my big girl panties and went to work. Well, in the middle of a meeting, my bra broke on one side. My boobs need support. If they see an opening to escape, they take it. I had to strategically keep one arm crossed under my now liberated boob, in an attempt to keep it somewhat in control.

I didn't want to have to tell my male boss that I needed to go home cause one boob was flying free. So I had one arm under my boob for an hour, waiting for him to go into a meeting.

Once he left I had to go home and put on a functioning undergarment.  In my haste, I put on a sharp pokey one that makes me want to cry in pain. So I stole big band aids from the first aid kit at work, and stuck those to the sides of the bra.

    Seriously. WTF.

Also, let me tell you about these pants. They have their pants buy one get one free right now and I bought those in 4 colors. They're basically dress yoga pants.
    I'll repeat that.

    DRESS YOGA PANTS.

I bought 4 pairs of pants and 2 sweaters today for like $110.
