Re: Weekly accountability.

  • 1. Pretty spendy but all in cash- $53 Paddleboarding, $19 Gas, $30 Chinese food, $7 Dunkin donuts, $6 grocery store, $35 Walmart

    2. Nothing, we get paid this week. Our garage door cable broke last week so I transferred $ to get this fixed tomorrow, I hope it's an easy, cheap fix!

    3. No pic!

    1. It was a spendy weekend.  Starting Thurs with our free concert tickets.  We paid $12 for parking (we usually go early and park far to get it for free but on Thurs we splurged and didn't) $12 for two beers and $8 for tacos.  So much for a free night out!
Friday we had dinner and drinks with old friends and that totaled $100.  I spent $55 on a massage but that was with my fun money.
Saturday and Sunday we did some free things and a Saturday evening mystery shop dinner valued at $150.  We went over about $1.50 and will have to pay that out of pocket but I'll gladly pay $1.50 for that fancy dinner plus we'll actually come out ahead with our 5% cashback on the credit card for restaurants.  We managed to find free parking for the dinner and avoided paying valet (and writing that section of the report).
    $10 on groceries.
    We made $110 on BnB.

    2. N/A We didn't work on goals this week, just let loose a little instead.

    3. It is a wedding photo that a friend took during our 2013 wedding.  One of my favorites and I like that it subtly shows off his ring because the wife's ring(s) usually gets more love in photos.

    1) Ours wasn't bad, except I completely forgot we were due to buy some more revolution for the cats.  So that was like $100 I wasn't expecting, but it was my fault for forgetting.

    2) I am just 2 classes away from finishing my LLM!  I finished comps this weekend and an exam for another class.  11 classes down!

    3) Man I need to update my photo.  This is from my third year of law school, in my apartment, right before we went to the barristers ball hosted by my school.  My roommate took the picture.  H was my "date" that year (we were engaged by then), and he was a first year law student at the same school.  IIRC I bought my dress for $14 on clearance.  I still have it - it's kind of tacky on the hanger, but it's actually really flattering on.  Thinking back, I can't believe that was 5 years ago!  I really need to update it...

    1. How MM was your weekend? Spendy. Friday I went to wine and yoga with my girlfriends. We had a great time and it was paid for a few weeks ago so no money on Friday. Went to a concert Saturday and ended up doing some outlet shopping beforehand plus dinner with my friend before the concert. I got some great deals at the outlets thou on clothes I needed. Sunday I lounged around the house and go sushi for dinner $20.

    2. Any progress toward goals? Not a pay week so no.

    3. If you have a photo as your avatar, tell us the story behind it. That's my pup on our wedding day. I was getting ready at the house and was giving her a treat so she'd sit pretty for the picture. This is one of my favorite pictures of her. :)

    ETA Sunday expenses... Oops!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good! We hosted two different couples (one Saturday and one Sunday) and spent about $80 on groceries and beer which includes plenty of leftovers for us for the week too. Husband ordered food for the bearded dragon and was a bit bummed to see that the sale the website has been running for months finally ended so that was about $70. We also used up our last flea/tick dosage for the doggy so I'll have another $70 coming up in the next week or two to replenish our stock.

    2. Any progress toward goals? Yes! I accidentally put an extra $500 this month into our savings account! Once I realized my error I panicked and made sure we weren't short in the checking account and we weren't so I left it. I meant to set up an automatic transfer from the savings to the investment account, but apparently I did an extra transfer from the checking to savings instead. Which reminds me I still need to adjust that going forward lol.

    3. If you have a photo as your avatar, tell us the story behind it. No photo - I actually tried to add one last week and the site kept acting weird. Whenever I tried to change my profile I got a 404 screen and then it redirected to the Nest's new homepage (which didn't have a link back to the discussion forums that I could find and I got super confused). If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong I'd love to add a photo!

Pretty MM.  Spent $200 at Walmart, but it was all planned.

    2. Any progress toward goals?
Yes.  H is working a ton of overtime and my commissions ended up being double what I thought it was going to be.  So we have enough to cash flow vacation this month just in our budget.  We won't even have to pull $1 from our vacation fund.  Which means we may easily be able to work another trip to Hawaii in.  Woot!  That's our next savings goal.  Pending no pregnancy happens.

It's one of our engagement pictures I had as my avatar on TheKnot.  We're kissing across H's show car.

    1. I spent $100 at Target on a birthday gift for my dad, essential clothing purchases, and a shower card. I also spent $15 on a yoga class and we spent $75 (on-budget) on groceries. 2. We put a little in savings and are almost halfway to saving our OOP Max ($5,000). We also completed cash flowing our insulation upgrade. Now we will begin saving for dental work for our dog, as his teeth are starting to obviously hurt :( 3. It's my pup Baxter!

    1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good- groceries ($82... unheard of for us, but we're getting a lot of produce from my parents' garden), electrician ($400), bathroom mirror ($139), new tire for DH ($200- had a giant nail in it!).

    2. Any progress toward goals? Yes for the bathroom- plumbing and electrical are complete. Drywall and cement board are up- taping/mudding this week. Meeting with our bank to discuss HELOC/cash out refi on Saturday for exterior work.

    3. If you have a photo as your avatar, tell us the story behind it. It's a small purple flower from our garden- they come back every year and I thought it was cute. When you enlarge it, it's blurry, but the actual picture isn't.

Pretty good!  I recently took advantage of Living Social's special on a Sam's Club membership.  It ended up being $15 for the year, after a $10 gift card was included.  Except, when I went to Sam's the first time (on Friday) after activating my membership online, they gave me an additional $20 gift card!  Living Social deal = free Sam's Club basic membership plus $5.

And promptly used the $20 gift card to turn my purchase from $106 to $86,  I was e-mailed the $10 one gift card this morning.

    No money spent Saturday.

On Sunday, my H and I had lunch with an OOT friend and her b/f. I fought it, but she insisted on paying for our meals/drinks because I had hooked her up with a free hotel room for their stay.  Just a $2 tip for the valet (my parking was free).

    2. Any progress toward goals?

Not too much, no paydays last week, but got $800 in rent from one of my tenants.  Half is going to my HELOC and half went to bulk up my e-fund, because I like to keep more cash on hand during hurricane season.

No avatar!  I need to be more creative, lol.

    1. How MM was your weekend?
It was pretty good. Just went to Costco ($144) to buy dog food and groceries and then King Soopers ($34) for a few more grocery items.

    2. Any progress toward goals?
Finally signing up for an HSA (DH too)! So that will save us $385 a year in premiums and it makes more sense for us. Also, the OOP Max is only $2,500 (compared to $4,500 on the PPO), so when we have our first child (planning next year hopefully), it will actually cost $2k less than expected.

    3. If you have a photo as your avatar, tell us the story behind it.
I took the photo of the lonely flower during a trip to La Oroya, Peru in college. It is among the most polluted cities in the world (thanks American mining company) and exists at 14,000 ft above sea level. The rain is acidic due to pollution and kills almost all living things, but this flower somehow managed to live...so I captured a pic of it.
