Ugh, yeah Waylon. That seemed unnecessary to me too. I'm drawing a blank, how did SM mention the Nomads in the book? Couldn't they have just followed that same thing? Instead of trying to rewrite pieces of the story?

They added the scenes because in the book it's lightly mentioned, and then they just show up at the baseball scene. In a movie...having characters that want to kill the main character out of nowhere would have thrown things off a lot. I liked that they built it up that these vamps were killers and different than the Cullens.?

In the book they go on forever about how the Cullens are different. It's a theme that we learn over and over and over. In the movie...they need to draw and show the?parallel?between the two covens.?

I also thought that Edward taking Bella up a tree for the view as a good addition but extra time of them crawling around the tree was a bit of a waste. ?

Arrrgh, Tthat scene bugged the crap out of me. I can't see Edward hanging out way up in a tree with Bella. Any limb could snap, Bella could lose her footing at anytime - it seemed reckless and way out of character for Edward.?

That is a good point. I never thought about Bella falling. But also how they kept jumping to random...."falling in love" scenes....the tree, sitting on the rocks....just blah.?

  • Oh and a scene they should have kept or added in the movie was ?B & E having lunch a few times and the chemistry blood prick time. For me that is when it was really solid between the two...it was like the first time he rescued her, before the weird guys in the street.

  • Yeah, in the book, Alice sees there are vamps coming for a visit, then they suddenly show up in her vision, coming in minutes, at the baseball game. IDK. I thought having them hunting around Forks was weird. That wouldn't have happened in the books. It was just off.

I just think the movie's conflicts were off-kilter compared to the book - too much focus on the nomad vamps, not enough focus on the conflicted romance of it.?

My biggest beef with the movie and not giving their love justice was that, especially in the meadow scene, it seemed like E kept screaming at her all "I could kill you" then out of nowhere was was all in love with her.

YES! That drove me crazy!  He's all "stay away from me"..."I love you"

what??  Yeah the meadow part was my fav part of the book, the movie tore it up!  In fact I went to reread the meadow part cuz I was trying to block out the movie one!

  • Did the Director or Writers for this movie even read the book I wonder?...I think that they just got the Cliff Notes! BLAH

But I'll watch it again!  haa haa haa hah a ha

yeah missed the conflicted love thing too. That is what MADE the book! ?

  • FWIW, the script (or at least the one I read online) was MUCH better than the movie - much, much, much more like the book. Something changed between it and what was filmed, and I blame CH.

Is it still on line? I would like to see it?

I do blame a lot on editing. Like in HP3....they left most of the book out of the movie. It sucked....the extended versions are great though!

Sometimes the directors to tend to get too artistic for their own good, IMO?

  • I wondered how different the script would be versus the movie. I read somewhere that KS did a lot of ad libbing but I do blame a lot on the directing.

After watching the movie a few times and reading all of the books I don't understand why there was any uproar over CH being kicked to the curb

Why would there complaints on her getting kicked to the curb? She didn't do a good job. End of story....IMO?

As I said yesterday I thought that she seemed like she had to take a crap the whole movie....and if she was so happy & in love..why didnt the *** smile more then once...she drove me nuts!!!!!!  Bella in my head was more likeable & cute!

I agree with this--I wish she was a little happier in the movie.  It's going to be hard to see her depressed in NM, since that's almost the way she seemed in Twilight.
